I did exactly this and for all the reasons you listed and have no complaints. Only thing I would recommend adding is the remote bass knob.

I found in order to use the forward post, you need 2 of the half moon post in the back, because with ithe roll-n-jack pulled all the way to the back, the forward post just grabs the center latch point. I do use the forward post for extra support, but only because my kids have been known to bump...
