We have full-timed in the r-pod for 14 months and counting. From SF to Chicago to Mexico and everywhere in between. Both the Bronco and r-pod have been flawless. Zipped up and down passes in ID, WY, CO, AZ, UT, and CA. Never once thought twice about it. And then we disconnect and go wheeling...
Hola! I won't bury the lede: does anyone have any off-road recovery options for Cow Mountain or have a winch and want to help a Bronco brother out?
We've been on the road 7 months pulling our travel trailer from Colorado to Idaho, down to Mexico and back up to northern California. We are...

Any suggestions for the Clayton/Stanley area? We live in a travel trailer pulled by our Bronco and plan to still be around central/south ID for another 2 and a half weeks. Clayton next week and probably Bear Lake the week after.
You’re on the right track. We looked at a basecamp too but wanted something a few feet bigger since it will be our home. We use a friction sway bar. There are a number of different controllers and 7-way connectors that will work. Curt, redarc, tekonsha, etc. Due to time constraints we went to...
We left the house behind and are 6 days from living in the 2015 R-Pod 178 full time traveling the country. Trailer weighs 2,900lbs with all the equipment and solar added. We carry 350lbs of cargo divided between the Bronco and the trailer.
I need rear seat covers. Would love to take them off your hands but others are $170-199. I didn’t know if these were premium with a price to match. I’m willing to pay up if my dog will notice the difference! 🤣
Working with Camping World on a setup now and they are saying the Bronco "cannot use a weight distribution hitch as per Ford." Has anyone else heard this?
CW also said that weight distributed hitch benefits are very little on anything less than 400lb tongue weight. eTrailer says it has to do...
That’s insane! What were you towing? This is exactly why I’m posting, trying to hear some real world experiences before I dump 20k+ into a trailer. Thanks.
I've looked at these. The problem is the 5gal black tank. That'll get you 2 days off grid and then you're back to pooping in the woods. With a name like Rove Lite it's bizarre that it's a RV site only camper. Another option is a Free Solo but I've read nothing but bad things about them. So far...
Hurry up and get a Bronco Damnit!
Thats certainly one option we’ve discussed. CW said the tranny couldn’t handle it. I’ve always heard soft suspension but the 10spd and v6 turbo would be great at altitude. Even the sales guy said if we opted for delivery vs pickup they would have no way of...
Update: we were 2 minutes before signing docs for a 2017 R-Pod 179 and CampingWorld decided to do research on the Badland’s tow/engine/trans/gvwr/etc and they pulled the plug. They aren’t allowed to sell any camper within 1000lbs of a vehicles tow rating. The most the would sell me is something...
I looked at 7 different TTs with dry weights under 2,800lbs. I've settled on a R-Pod 179 at 2,650lbs. With a weight distributed anti-sway hitch and traveling light (there are only 2 of us), I think I'll be fine. All the Jeep folks towing the 171 series through the 180 seem to be doing just fine...
Are you me? These are exactly what I’m looking for and all your thoughts mirror mine. I appreciate the detailed post and pics. @DV8offroad can we get this guy a 10% commission? He just sold some sliders. I come out to Carmel a lot (Big Sur is one of my favorite places on Earth), I’ll buy you a...
