He's right, stock intake will be the only way to eliminate the sound. Older turbo cars you could always hear the blow-off valve, but on newer cars they create the intake in a manner to quite all the turbo noises down.
Also metered air issue you are referring to doesn't apply to the Bronco...

I had the same issue and ended up buying a usb-c charging plug to go in the cigarette lighter in the center arm rest. It was only $10 and it charges much faster that the two ports under the hvac controls.
I don't have the K&N intake, but this is pretty normal with all aftermarket intakes. OEM intakes are designed to muffle the turbo sounds, most aftermarket intakes are not designed that way.
