That's my understanding. If you trace the path that the filter is in (you can see in the interior shots of the rear hatch off) it would make sense as a drain for any water that gets by the seals. I would recommend keeping it open - Water damage is worse than wind noise ;)
I would think paint under a bolt/nut would cause it to loosen over time as the paint layer deteriorates and the stud stretch reduces. Probably why it didn't come painted
I have the pin and opening. I assumed something is stuffed inside and the pin holds it in place.
I haven't figured out the opening, but we have the same feature
I did on mine but it went away after a while.
I assumed it was oils/greases getting up to temp for the first time.
If any other comments follow up with identified issues, I'd be curious what they are.
@CXXX
Nice work! It definitely takes a bit more effort to close the top when the weather stripping is fresh (I had to push/pull on the panel while securing the latch) but after a couple days, the stripping compresses into a more permanent shape and it becomes much easier.
The only difference I...
Hearing "hundreds" sounds a bit like Tobias "We're building dozens!" as I'm sure demand is in the thousands! I'm sure you have a count of the "Notify me when in stock" records, I'd be curious how many thousands it really is.
Glad they're so popular and this a successful product for your...
Started ordering at 9:00am (apparently I'm a fool for not trying before the actual drop time) and it was out of stock (4dr) by the time I typed my credit card...
I guess they weren't joking with "limited quantity," I wonder how many were available?
I'm in the exact same scenario - exhaust, wife, and all, haha! Only I ended up keeping the stock on and the FP Exhaust is back in its box. I have the same thoughts as you on the system.
I ended up adding lots of weather stripping around the top, kilmat all the body panels, and I'm kinda liking...
@StickerFab
Reviving this old thread only because I just got my Bronco and saw your note on the matte finish. I would be very interested in that mainly to help the labels blend in better with the plastic!
Maybe worth creating a poll to see who would be interested in that finish on this site?
Very much so.
I honestly dreaded taking it on the highway because it was making me dislike the vehicle I waited nearly 2 years for.
Now I look forward to every drive!
It also didn't take very long and the cost is pretty minimal.
But as others have said - it may only be worth it if you got an...
Inspected and very glad you mentioned this - I'm going to edit my writeup as this absolutely affected the critical T-joint. Mine actually had quite a bit of adjustability so I must have been slammed outboard and I moved it inboard as much as it would go.
I think the biggest issue is consistency with the fit. The general population may be much quieter than a JL Wrangler!
The fact alone that some people have perfectly fine phone conversations and others can't be heard on the other end is at least slightly more objective than "It's too loud"
To...
I don't care so much if the car next to me on the highway thinks the Bronco is windy, as long as I can't hear it ;)
You're correct though, adding seals is a bit of a band-aid (or a cast that I don't intend to take off?)
When I really want a quiet cruise, I'll just jump in the Mustang. That...
Mine is a '23 also, so it might just be luck.
My top was unacceptable with anything around highway speed. Phone calls were pointless, no one could hear me. 3-5hr drives were exhausting just from the noise
I think the most important thing that @Ford Motor Company should pay attention to is the adhesive issue I had at the front.
It's a 2023 Bronco delivered in December 2022 so that's a bit concerning on supplier quality.
I tried to document it well enough should they come across this.
Flush fit was critical for me. The front panels took the most trial and error, particularly on the middle strip. Tried to get some pictures, but the panels do sit flush.
Front T-Joint
Front-Mid Split
Glad you spotted this!.
I actually ordered one (Amazon) but it took forever to ship so I cancelled the order. Didn't spot an equivalent on McMaster-Carr.
Some people also appeared to have issues with long-term adhesion. Combo of these events lead me to just leave it off.
So there isn't a real...
Like many, I plan to use my long-awaited Bronco for long road trips.
Like slightly fewer, I'm a bit of an NVH snob. I've had the dash off my Mustang probably 10 times searching for rattles and lining everything with felt and double-sided tape before it was silenced to my liking.
My Bronco...
