It works and the remote controller is really nice, but I definitely wouldn’t buy it again. It’s strictly inertia based as an ONLY source of brake engagement. I’d rather use surge brakes! Other units use 2 or even 3 sources of brake engagement.
Yes, you have to trim the inner plate behind the mod bumper. You’ll want to check the BlueOx website for the latest baseplate part number. Looks like they have 2 different versions depending on dynamic cruise control.
I have some shackles that mount through the holes on the breakaway cable mounts. Those tabs are 3/16” steel and strong enough to use for emergency situations.
For those wanting to flat-tow their Bronco behind an RV and use the front factory recovery points as a tow-bar attachment, would you recommend these aluminum units for that purpose?
Great news! Looks like there may be a solution to keep the factory recovery points (for MOD bumper) and stregthen them enough to safely flat tow - from a local member and small biz owner!

This looks fantastic and is exactly what some in the Bronco flat-tow community have been looking for to strengthen the factory recovery points (such as in this thread). Can you provide a few more details such as:
Is this one unit per side, or individual plates for each side of the frame horn...
Looks like there might still be some options to keeping and strengthening the factory recovery points for use flat-towing:

I used a standard 7/6 umbilical and connector. It passes the brake, turn, and 12v from the coach to the toad. Then I used a BlueOx diode wiring kit to use the factory LED lights. The 12v runs up to the battery as a charge kit when under tow.
Those brackets are cast metal and held on to the front of the frame ears with 3 bolts. They rely on tensile strength of the bolts (threads) only. Fine for the occasion recovery pull, but not ideal for thousands of miles of towing.
In comparison the baseplate inserts inside the frame with...
Just thought I’d share some details of my flat tow set up. Latest version of BlueOx baseplate, Assent towbar, Patriot brake system, and wired the brake lights directly using diodes. I also ran a dedicated charge line to keep the bronco battery topped off while under tow.
