As an ST owner with one trans under his belt I can tell you it was broken internal parts not due to heating, but torque.
Even with Level 10 upgraded transmissions the factory flex plate shreds and no upgraded ones are available yet.

Itās a great trans upgrade but not bulletproof. The flex plate will shred at 600lbft and an upgrade isnāt available yet. A few already have broken a few times on E85 3.0 Explorer STs.

I have a 2020 Explorer ST and it has something similar to GOAT modes.
Thereās a significant difference in drivability, transmission shifting, holding gears, throttle response, allowed torque and etc between them.
Iād gather thereās a lot more going on with the GOAT modes that a few switches...
