From what I can tell, the operation of the rear seats will allow so much space when folded down that thereāll be no point to attempting to remove them. Infinitely superior to the rear seat operation of the 2-door Wrangler. That, along with the extra space behind the rear seats compared to what I...
My thoughts exactly. I was originally fully planning on a 4-door but having seen the photo of the rear seat area of the 2-door, Iām leaning 2-door now.
Are there things Iād want to do a la carte that wonāt be available? Sure. But Iām certain that Iāll be able to build out a model that will be just fine for my needs and wants. No worries.
Iām AFL-CIO and prefer to own vehicles built by AFL-CIO labor, and always have, but I also understand the global nature of commerce and wouldnāt disqualify foreign-built automobiles. Iāve always owned American-made (usually locally made :)) vehicles though and it appears Iāll continue to do so.
Iāve done it at work (TOL airport tower) already. :ROFLMAO: My coworkers appreciate it.
Did get some strange looks in the Rite-Aid the other day though.
Only vehicle, so itās intended use will be to put a smile on my face whenever I drive, be it open air in the summer or competently handling anything winter can bring. Much like my 08 Wrangler was but better in all aspects.
This is almost certainly like this from Bestop:

I think Iād rather just deal with the panels, personally. Great to have options though!
The black painted are optional on Outer Banks and Badlands as well. Iām currently looking at either a Black Diamond or a Badlands but am also likely going to get an early 2022 model, so who knows what will be available then.
Not a fan of what appears to be the āmolded in color Carbonized Grayā hard top on that 2-door. Way too light compared to the the fender flares, door handles, and window surrounds. If thatās not corrected on production models, Iāll have to go with a body color top.
Iāll be watching these developments with great interest... ?
Re the video, I would not read too much into it. The top was likely not folded back correctly, and could very well still be in prototype form.
I think thereās a good chance it will both initially and into the future. Thereās a relatively significant amount of additional space behind the back seat than a 2-door Wrangler, and the back seat folds out of the way in a far more useful way.
I had an 08 Wrangler 2-door and wound up getting...
Black Diamond (need measurements before deciding 2 or 4 dr)
2.3/10-speed
mid package plus 12ā screen and heated steering wheel
dual tops
33s off the base Badlands
I figure with the ā21s available in April at the earliest, ā21 will be a short model year. Since Iāll be ready around the first of the year ā22, Iāll wait and see how it goes with the early adopters, figure out exactly what I want, and order a 2022 in fall ā21 for delivery probably in early ā22.
This photo from the Ford website leads me to believe they fold flat. Look at the headrests - they fold back so theyād lie face first against the back of the front seats.
