It's the value proposition mostly. If I had planned or wanted a Badlands / highly crazy optioned Bronco pushing $50k and it was in the budget I'd simply wait it out for the Cybertruck. For a base (possibly BaseSquatch), the capability you get for right around $30k is tough to beat.
I'm alright with the lime / highlighter crazy greens but dark greens on cars I've never been a fan of weirdly. Now browns and yellows however.... criminally underrated / underoffered.
Excellent. Antimatter BaseSquatch manual here I come.
Edit to add conspiracy theory: maybe this was a marketing tactic of some sort to see if they could "get away" with not offering it, and after seeing people really wanted it they just hit the "OK" button.
Certainly hope this becomes real. A BaseSquatch manual is the exact build I want.
Fingers crossed they add Kodiak Brown to the list of colors at some point as well.
Assuming this info is accurate, it completely solidifies my plans of going Base ManSquatch. Still bummed you can't get Cyber Orange on the Base, but that's not a biggie. I am a little interested in what sorts of engineering obstacles make trail turn assist not possible with the manual.
Only other new vehicle about to hit the market that I have any interest in is the Tesla Cybertruck. Part of why I'm leaning towards a Base model; the closer I creep towards $50k, the more likely it is that I'll just jump back in line for the Cybertruck.
That said I'm also keeping my eyes peeled...

Ideally I'd love a Badlands 2-door manual in Cyber Orange.
Realistically, especially due to an unforeseen loss of income necessitating a cross country move, I'll probably have to look for a used 2-door base manual in a few years.
I sincerely wish that somebody would let the 40% of trucks I see on a regular basis know that this is the case. Every work commute without fail and the majority of the time when just popping down to the grocery store I get blinded out by at least 2 or 3 trucks coming the other way.
This is what I plan to do. I had a coworker with a boatload of "will blind you even in direct sunlight" bright LED bars and spotlights from Amazon on his 4Runner and they still worked great even after 4 years and some serious abuse despite their suspiciously inexpensive price tags..
I'm mostly curious if the rumor that they'll offer a plugin hybrid with a manual comes through (and how ungodly expensive it'll be over the non-hybrid versions). I posted in another thread awhile back some links to the Getrag website about the hybrid/EV compatible 7-speed manual they have in the...
I've exclusively had 4-door cars except one 2WD F-150 standard cab and a brief stint in a '91 Grand Am GT. I can count on one hand the number of times I've needed to haul more than 4 people, and I can count on the other hand the times I've had to carry more than 3 people and gear.
That said...
2 door Badlands, 7 speed manual, lux package, washout rubberized floor, cyber orange (because it's the best of the currently offered colors, "reverse" chromatic vinyls (basically blacks and Greys) or a respray in Audi colour Ipanema Brown or Vegas yellow, a shitload of accessories from the...
Kodiak Brown would be my absolute #1 realistic choice if they offer it. In my dreams I'd love to see a bright yellow but I doubt that they'll do that. I just hope the good colors aren't going to be trimlocked to the Raptor version.
