  1. Official: Bronco Build & Price Goes Live Tonight @ 12:01AM EST

Which is great until you look at the days after today.... RIP Fall.
  2. Which power train won't be a lemon?

Being manufactured in China was only part of what caused the MT-82 debacle. Engineering oversights (maybe or maybe not at the behest of bean counters) and the worst remote mounted shifter bracket perhaps ever contributed their fair share as well. Less than a week into ownership, I came...
  3. Antimatter Blue real life look - on 2021 F-150

Looks like DIB and black had a baby. Can't wait to see the color in person. I've been sold on it since the Leno Bronco but I wonder if the white accents are what really kicked it off. Would love to do something similar. AB with white top, white dog dish wheels.... I could dig that...
  4. Ford explains why no manual with 2.7L Bronco

Oh yeah what they did with the 2.7 is awesome, it seems very well engineered at a fundamental level. I don't want to take anything away from the 2.7 with my post, to be clear. The 2.3 is a generation behind for sure but it's not the dinosaur some are purporting. I wonder where this...
  5. Ford explains why no manual with 2.7L Bronco

I mean.... well.... no. Not really. Where did this parallax originate? It's peppered all over this forum and is disingenuous at best. Here's the explanation from @Jomo, which is correct:
  6. Report: Manual Sasquatch Bronco is Happening (? or ! ... now revised to !)

Oh man.... got so fat off of 8-corner.... It's a good thing I don't live by a Jet's anymore. I hope this news is true; that would be nice. Now we'd just have to ask is it limited to certain trims or configurations? Hopefully not but I guess we'll see.
  7. You seasoned Ford Guys: your opinion on the 2.3 Turbo?

Did you even read what I wrote? I know all these things and it doesn't change what I said. Heck, why don't you look up why Toyota doesn't bring their excellent diesels here? They've covered that too....
  8. You seasoned Ford Guys: your opinion on the 2.3 Turbo?

Not sure what your point is here. I specifically stated "modern diesels" in the context of road-legal options in the new Bronco era. You said you'd choose a diesel for the Bronco, well guess what...? If you had the option for a diesel in the Bronco, it'd be saddled with all the issues that...
  9. You seasoned Ford Guys: your opinion on the 2.3 Turbo?

Man, do I have some bad news for you about modern diesels especially when used in predominantly (and/or extended duration) off-road excursions (a big reason I got rid of mine).... Also, this is about the 2.3 at 270/310. It'll be fine. Either put a catch can in (can you put two legos together...
  10. Manual or the 2.7

Oh man I used to commute the length of the Ike (the Chicago one) every day in my Mustang with 3.31s.... Every day I wished I had a crawler gear. I'm too lazy to do the math but 1st on that thing was a little long, and the Coyote didn't particularly like to lug. Now I'm in a situation where...
  11. Manual or the 2.7

My ZR2 was great outside of emissions BS that took its whole first month and a half in existence to sort out. Sold it just the other day because the used vehicle market is nuts right now and I got offered too much to say no. So now I'm down to a stock NA8 Miata, a 1990 245 DL with 285k on it...
  12. I just drove a new Ford Ranger w/ 2.3L from Alabama to Pennsylvania

I had to walnut blast my N54 before meth and I wouldn't call it "super expensive", but it was annoying to have to do it so soon and a few hundred dollars is still better served spent on beer or mods, but.... IIRC I paid $350 to include IM gaskets (not from the BMW dealer though, through a speed...
  13. I just drove a new Ford Ranger w/ 2.3L from Alabama to Pennsylvania

Here is a post from @Jomo that is much more accurate than what I've seen in this thread: Hope that helps better answer your question. EDIT: To be clear I'm saying it was, not that it wasn't
  14. LandRover curiosity

I loved my '03 Disco SE and it never let me down. The only thing outside of scheduled maintenance were the exhaust manifold issues. Somehow I got the only Disco in the world that didn't break every time you drove it. In fact, it took me and all my belongings from San Diego to Chicago when I...
  15. 4x4 Part Time Selectable Engagement vs Advanced On Demand Auto Engagement

Yup that's what I've used 4A for in the ZR2 and it's worked great for that, as long as things aren't too hairy (in which case I should be in 4H anyway). It's pretty seamless when it engages too.
  16. Stripper Bronc

  17. New to Ford. Overall Bronco reliability and turbo engine expectations?

Yeah that's true. I do think the 2.3/10 in the Ranger is by far the best powertrain in the lineup though as long as you don't need a manual. Silver linings I guess.
  18. Active and retired military Bronco owners!

Spent seven years in the Corps, Avionics Electronics (AT equivalent for you Navy folk). POG as POG gets. 2dr BD MT w/ hopefully Squatch (downgraded to 33s) is the plan for now. But that's completely reliant on them making the MT available with Squatch. If not, I'm not sure which I'll go...
  19. Why do they have such a hard time deciding to put the 5.0 in?

It should be noted my experience was with Gen1 only... So it may have gotten better since then. In fact it seems from the accounts of others it is better. I do know that torque management had to be turned off to make it livable to start with in mine, and leaving off idle was definitively...
  20. Just crashed my jeep

Yeah the context of my post wasn't aimed at anyone here... And of course you missed the follow up sentence to the one that got you riled up, where I noted it's used in friendly jest even when I do use it. But thanks for the heads-up.
