  1. Can Someone Explain Big Bend? (Not trolling)

So then not like the Wrangler, because the Base Bronco already comes with power windows/locks and AC.
  2. Big Bend Bronco Thread

I think this is a sign of how far cars have come. I started driving in the 90s and my first few vehicles were BARE bare bones. When I look at the Bronco, even the base, I see a vehicle with power everything, cruise control, audio controls on steering wheel, a TV screen for a stereo (that pairs...
  3. Less technology

I mean no offense to you, but I can't help chuckling that we're at a place where fifty-one thousand dollars is keeping price down.
  4. Base vs Big Bend trim question/help

There definitely is a difference between leather wrapped steering wheel and the alternative, but that could likely be addressed with aftermarket products. Also, audio controls are on the steering wheel even with the base.
  5. Best guess on the 165k reservations turning into orders

Good point. I plan to place an order no matter what, but I'm keeping in mind that I can back out at any point up until taking delivery. So if I get to the dealership, inspect it, drive it around and think for any reason that it's not a vehicle I want to commit that much money to, I'll walk.
  6. Is "marine grade" vinyl interior any different from vinyl of the past?

Yep. The word "vinyl" conjures up memories of crappy old 80s cars, but really it's just synthetic leather. And these days, the "leatherette" or "pleather" or whatever it's called in various cars is pretty damn good and the average person would think it IS leather. "Marine-grade" was a brilliant...
  7. Decision points for you

Good solid advice there! Like I said, I know which exact vehicle I'd order, and it is an unsquatched 2.7L base model. I'm well aware of the idea of opportunity cost, which is the reason the entire "decision point" is just the buy/don't buy decision. Even the relatively cheap base model comes out...
  8. Decision points for you

My decision points really have nothing to do with the vehicle. I pretty much have it nailed down on the trim, upgrades, etc and know within a few hundred dollars what it'll cost to get the one I want. My decision point is figuring out if I'm going to make the smart financial decision (keep my...
  9. Why go for the mid package?

If you go to the desktop version of Ford's site and look at the base model, they do list the 8" screen as Standard. The part that is optional for other models is the "and enhanced voice recognition" part.
  10. Why go for the mid package?

You do not have to upgrade to get the 8" touch screen. It's standard on even the base.
  11. Why did you get a Bronco?

When I was a kid learning to drive in the 90s, the two-door SUV was THE COOLEST ride. I was so jealous of everyone who had a Bronco or Blazer/Tahoe. I always thought I'd get something like that when I was older and had money, but they kinda fell off in the 2000s and everything became unibody...
  12. Let's Be Honest About Our Intended Use

BRB, gonna go get some popcorn ready.
  13. Base Model Bronco Thread

Yep. That's why I lump the BB standalone cost in with the mid, because if you're gonna go up to BB, at that point you might as well toss in the mid package.
  14. Base Model Bronco Thread

Looks like the mid package is coming in around $1500, if you believe the survey info. By my math, for a 2dr, it's going to run around $6800 extra to go from base to BB+mid. Is that a fair cost for extra leather bits, auto ac, heated seats, remote start, wheel/tire upgrade, lane keep, the extra...
  15. Base Model Bronco Thread

I'm hoping they're $350ish. I put $500 as a placeholder in my unofficial pricing spreadsheet. If they come in at $1K or more I'm out. If $750+ it'll probably depend on the price of other upgrades (2.7L/auto) and my mood on the day I order.
  16. Base Model Bronco Thread

Probably gonna leave the bumper alone, but I do plan on getting the switches, unless they're just outrageously expensive. Probably won't use them for much; a light somewhere and maybe wire a subwoofer to a switch just for fun
  17. Base Model Bronco Thread

Remote start can be added either by the dealership or aftermarket, right? That's really the only feature from higher trims/packages that I really want. But I'm not about to drop $5K to go up to BB then another grand or two for mid package. I live in TX, so the heated seats are meh, but I'd love...
  18. Back to Badlands! Changed from Wildtrak /Upgrades.. How about you?

Yep, definitely gonna need to bring a bigger bag for that $5K upcharge.
