    The standards themselves are practice, not legal requirements. So yesā€¦October is a practice. Industry standard is a practice. Thatā€™s why you sometimes see the next model year advertised long before Octoberā€¦to be first to market. Itā€™s called business practice, not business law.

    Technically thatā€™s not accurate. They can call a vehicle built between Jan 1 and Dec 31 a 2022. Releasing the next model year in October became a practice, designed to beat the competitor to market. Ford should build 2022s until Dec 31 to get the old orders completed. But they wonā€™t.
