  1. 👨🏻‍💻 2022 Build & Price Is Up!

Really? I couldn't get it to let me build a 2 door BaseManSquatch? Must have done something wrong! I will revisit this! 2 door BaseManSquatch was what I was hoping for this whole time. EDIT: Hey you guys were right! Don't know what I was doing wrong before, I couldn't do it from Ford.com...
  2. 👨🏻‍💻 2022 Build & Price Is Up!

Ok cool. Well now I know for sure I'm not getting a Bronco. BaseManSquatch isn't a thing, and I refuse to pay more than $40k for this pile. I'll be ordering a new Tacoma. Ford, you failed.
  3. Who's ready to tap out?

Luckily I'm in a paid off beater that will likely still run a year from now. But I put in an order for a Maverick, just in case, and will put in an order for a Tacoma in January. The Maverick will just be a cheap daily driver that I can give my mother when I'm done with it, or right away if the...
  4. Bronco Production to Be Limited in 2022

I've got an order in for a Bronco, a Maverick, and a Tacoma. If the Taco gets here before the Bronco, then my dealer will get a Bronco to sell. The Maverick is for my mother. Hopefully those will be rolling out within the next year or so. Her 98 F150 has 300k miles now, and I'm worried it's...
  5. Reservation program ends for the Bronco - No NEW Reservations

I hope not. That will probably mean the death of manual transmissions for the Tacoma. They already dropped them on every trim except 4 door TRD short bed trucks. I'm planning to buy a 4 door short bed TRD Off-Road v6 manual with 2" lift and skid plates for the same MSRP as a 2 door...
  6. Reservation program ends for the Bronco - No NEW Reservations

Anybody want my 99'd BaseManSquatch order? I think I'm going to give up on Ford and go buy a Tacoma.
  7. 2022 mansquatch

I'm also hoping for a 2 door AMB BaseManSquatch. If it can't happen I guess I'll buy a BaseBase in whatever color I can and build my own damn offroader. Also I am not terribly far from telling Ford to eat a fat sack o' baby dicks and just buying another Tacoma like the one I sold in favor of...
  8. Any info on adding a sway bar disconnect to a base Sasquatch

Mainly because the switches are kinda joined together by a singular peice of rubber, which looks like a pain to swap out. But also because it affords me another opportunity to be lazy and not have to wire in something on the dash, or figure out how to incorporate into whatever software goat mode...
  9. Any info on adding a sway bar disconnect to a base Sasquatch

Wait till you find one in the junkyard, and wire it into one of your Aux switches. Until then, I'll find a way to make some manual disconnects for mine, and experiment with removing the sway bar altogether. (My XJ hasn't had a sway bar installed since 2004 or so, and I lived through daily...
  10. Brand new bronco overheated today [Updated 8/19]

Bummer. I probably could have messed around off road a bit but was unfamiliar with the area near the dealer I visited. 2 hours definitely gave me a good feel for the vehicle though. Perspective and expectation are much more realistic now.
  11. Curious Why it Seems so Many People Want a Manual Trans?

Manuals are fun on the road, which is where I do at least 80% of my driving. Manual off road is great as long as 4 low is low enough. Crawler gear on the Bronco has a good chance of achieving that. Automatics are for people who can't drive.
  12. Brand new bronco overheated today [Updated 8/19]

When I test drove one last week, I could have sworn I was smelling coolant the entire 2 hour drive with the top off....
  13. COBB Tuning working on tune and bolt-ons for 2.3L Bronco

I'm a 2 door manual or nothing kind of guy. That said, I test drove a 2.3 manual badlands 4 door, and it was a turd until you got it "up on the pipe", so to speak. I think a conservative tune to reduce turbo lag will be just about necessary when I finally get my 2 door BaseManSquatch, but I...
  14. The call of the Samurai beckons

I traded a v8 swapped solid axle Toyota pickup on 37's for a SOA'd Samurai on 33's. Biggest automotive regret of my life. The samurai was cool looking and good offroad, but damn near useless on the road. Top speed was 55mph with the little 1.3 litre, downhill with a tailwind. But it was pretty...

  16. 22’ For-sure Get BD Instead of BaseSquatch…

I'm curious how that proce protection will work out for me, with a 3/19 reservation. I had a first day reservation but canceled it due to unsteady employment status with the Wu-Tang Flu Thang going on. Now I've changed jobs and employment is more or less guaranteed....
  17. 22’ For-sure Get BD Instead of BaseSquatch…

I plan to put base steelies and flares on my BaseManSquatch with some pizza cutter 33's and sell my squatch wheels and tires to fund it. I want the gears, lockers, and shocks, but want the simple retro look and durability of steel wheels. I'm betting going to 33's will help with power and fuel...
  18. What are we going to be talking about in 2023 on this forum?

Sad to say but I will likely be on the Subaru forum asking questions about my dual range transmission swap that I decided to spend my Bronco down payment on after waiting 3 years for a 2 door BaseManSquatch that just never happened. Lack of dual range has been the only thing that has ever held...
  19. Installed 33 inch tires on stock Base rims - no mods required

Now go wheeling and test out the traction control goodies for us so I can decided if I could live without lockers.... this looks fantastic, like even better than Squatch to me. I 99'd my reservation to wait for BaseManSquatch, and I could have been a lot closer to already driving my Bronco if I...
  20. Got to test drive a 4 door badlands for a day

It's great to see it next to a lifted XJ, as my Bronco will more or less be replacing my old Cherokee. I daily drove the XJ for 6 or 7 years before retiring it to trail duty. I think the Bronco should fill its shoes nicely. I may keep the jeep as a toy, considering how rough its condition is...
