The front mudflaps do attach to the flares with two plastic retainers. Yes, the flaps fit behind the rear crashbar. You could remove the flares, but the flaps would loose some of their mounting integrity.

It's hard for me to justify a 15K markup, when essentially that's what I put down plus equity on my trade in. If you have the means and don't want to wait then go for it and don't look back. I don't think you will regret buying a bronco over a jeep. If future speculation on resale is an issue...
