    I did as you in the old days. Motors are built much much better than then. Never hurts to change too frequently, but overkill in my opinion.

    I checked mine before my first oil change. I have the same results as with yours. Oil is 1.25" from the tip.

    I don't know much about newer motors, but my mechanic says oil is used for more than just basic lubrication. I intend to use mobil1 only. I'd be nervous about any additives.
