  1. [How-To] Subwoofer Upgrade - Replacing/Upgrading the Factory Sub

Sounds like I have nearly the same setup you have: - 4" kicker CS on dash - Stock kick panel speakers (is it worth upgrading these) - 6.5" Kicker CS rear pods - 200.4 amp - Gearshade w/500.1 and 8" round Kicker sub I am contemplating the advice that says better dash speakers would help over the...
  2. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

Upon my further reading, it suggests that gain (on the speaker amp) should be kept as low as possible, so long as you can still attain the loudness you want without turning volume knob past the HU's clipping point. In other words, there is no benefit to increasing the gain, just because you can...
  3. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

In the interest of confusing things further... my ears are telling me that the sound quality is better when I have the 200.4 at higher gain (15-20%, which is still before any clipping at volume 23) and lower volume, as compared to higher volume and zero gain. Question 1: Does that potentially...
  4. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

Doers anyone know if... while running the 500.1 Key gain and DSP algorithm processes, is it okay to unplug the main speakers from the 200.4? I think (and hope) the answer would be yes. (And yes I know that you unplug the 500.1 when doing the 200.4 setup). I ask this question because when I'm...

  6. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

I feel like I should throw the FORscan device away before I get myself in trouble with it. Maybe toss it into a volcano to ensure that its sorcerous power can never be wielded for future wrongdoing.
  7. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

I am a newbie but do you mean you're see warning codes in FORscan that weren't there before as a result of making tweaks? Are there any operational symptoms or would you never know if you didn't have a tool to look for trouble codes?
  8. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

I used the spreadsheet (first link in this thread): https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/forscan-bronco-working-spreadsheet-double-honk-sport-mode-chimes-seatbelts-and-more.28489/ The only one I did that was not on this spreadsheet was the moving of the alert chimes to only come out of the...
  9. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

Yes at volume 23 I was worried it was going to destroy itself during the Key setup and gain matching exercise.
  10. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

I don’t have a pic but… for 200.4: Auto Turnon: DC Fader: On Compression: Off Bi-amp mode: Off Kicker EQ: enabled Time Delay: enabled Hi pass filter: 80 Amp 1 gain: 10% Amp 2 gain: 25% Radio Detect: off For 500.1: Hi pass: 15Hz Low pass: 80Hz DC Offset: On Input Signal: High Bass Boost: 25%...
  11. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

I didn't replace the floor speakers because the more I read the more I was hearing that those speakers are not so bad (same as on the B&O package). The 4" dash and pod speakers are single cone paper junk with tiny magnets. The kick panel speakers are much more substantial and made of visibly...
  12. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

The forscan changes I did (in the OP) makes it feel like a different car. I get in, open doors, press ignition, get in out and no dings, buzzes, warnings - it's like the car finally treats me like and adult. yes, I know my car is on. I know my seatbelt is off. I know I just turned the car off. I...
  13. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

Very helpful insight and explanation - I'll go to 80 on both and see if I feel like anything has been lost.
  14. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

I would definitely try adjusting the gain a but toward the rears just to the point to where you feel the soundstage move back and see how you feel. I did upgrade the rear pods to 6.5. If you don't want to mess with Forscan, your dealer can probably do it. 2 years ago, my dealer did mine to pass...
  15. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

I have the hi pass on the 200.4 off and the low pass on the sub at 80. I might try shifting the high pass on the 200.4 to 60. That way there is overlap signal to both amps between 60-80Hz. Any experts willing to weigh in on that strategy? With the 200.4, the front speakers seem to happily...
  16. Victory: dialed in the Kicker 200.4 and 500.1 amps with upgraded speakers and Gearshade hidden 8" sub

Not sure if you mean "pound in the box" as a good thing or bad. I had the 6 speaker system and bough the Plug and Play harness. My understanding is that if you have the factory sub or B&O, it can make things more complicated if you are trying to use that wiring. But I think there are harness...
