    Took mine to the dealer and they said it's normal. I've never had a car where this is normal.

    That's what I've been afraid of. Do you also have a rattle coming from the engine as well, or just the pinging? Mine has both and both disappear after warming up.

    I have also used different gas and different octanes from chevron, shell, texaco, and race trac. No difference at all.

    I have the same pinging noise when cold and with minimal acceleration ( no turbo boost). Goes away after the engine warms up. Will be watching this thread.
