HISTORY, STORY, EXPERIENCE, COMMENTS
I bought the car in 1987 when I was 17 as a project. I was going for a resto mod build before it was a thing. It seems like every part has been changed at least once and some need to be changed again. I have learned a lot along the way and made a few mistakes. People ask why I don’t drive it more and I have to admit I worry about the weekend project I was doing in 1998 that I can’t remember if I finished or what it was exactly. I guess if I drove it more I could see what part falls off to jog my memory. I took it out last weekend and met some neighbors who came over to “socially distance” talk to me about it. I have more I want to do to as time and budget allow.

I did the hydraulic clutch on my 70, although I cheated and used Modern Driveline and Dazed Car's bracket and whatnot, LOOOOOVVVVVEEE the hydraulic clutch & I had already burned up a cable clutch w/ the long-tubes b/c I didn't heed all the warnings 😝 My 70 was a C4-auto originally so imagine going from a C4/auto/3 spd to a hydraulic clutch/WC T5...different car man!

My old mechanical linkage was bending with the performance clutch I put it. I did some trial and error with willWood master cylinder and a pull type slave cylinder. It works well but I try to only use the clutch for first gear and reverse and feather in the other shifts. More fun that way too. I would consider another transmission if I came across one on the cheap

Ahhh so you're rocking the hydraulic on the top loader, right? i do run the 5.0 clutch (although stock), had my flywheel machined for the larger mid 90s clutch v the 70. The OD in the T5 is amazing, I cruise around 73 mph or so right under 2k rpms, with the C4, id have boil over any time I hopped on the highway 😄 and that's with a 3.0 rear-end (thinking about going to a 3.53) and hoping for sub 2,500k at 73 or so. Bad thing is the T5s outta the Foxes are 30 yrs old or so now.

Love your car man 👍
