I think it looks fine. Perhaps the look is more driven by color than it is by actual materials. Case in point.

This is exactly what sent me back on the fence when I sat in one a couple weeks ago. The plastic just felt cheap and would have been fine in a $35k Bronco but, as I sat in that one, there was no way I could justify my $60k build.
So you thought the increase of $25k should mostly be allocated to the interior?

You're buying a well equipped offroad vehicle for God sakes. Not a Mercedes.

With washout floors, I just realized that technically I no longer have to stop to pee on long trips. 😂
Lol, aftermarket accessory will be a funnel with a tube leading to the floor. Great idea!

I was going to make this a reply in a thread, instead of a new thread, but it seems to be mentioned and griped about in every thread eventually.

What cars have y’all had in the last few decades that DIDN’T have plastic dash materials? What do y’all think dashboards are made of? Unless you have maybe a Jaguar Vanden Plas with luxurious, exotic woods on top of—you guessed it—plastic, your dash is made mostly of plastics.

I’ve had some pretty nice vehicles, and every dash of every car since the Spartan metal dash panel (with vinyl padded dash top added) of my early Bronco has been plastic.

I’m just curious, because the griping about “plastic interior” has become its own culture, and I’m puzzled why.

When I rushed to reserve a Bronco on 7/13/2021, I didn’t even care what the dash looked like. Turns out, it looks like a space ship, it to hear y’all tell it, it’s a Barbie Jeep.
It is no worse than my 2018 BMW

It's comforting to know Ford hasn't changed plastics suppliers since they built my old '81 Escort.
It will feel like coming home.

I damn near bought a Ranger in 19! I really like that truck, but the F150 towing ability won out!
I towed our 22ft boat with the Ranger last week (Sold the F150 in preparation for the Bronco) and it was 100% competent. Boat and trailer is about 6k lbs. No F150, but surprisingly good.

If high quality materials is your thing I'd recommend a Lincoln Aviator. Keep in mind the higher quality leathers, plastics, etc. also tend to be very soft and not a great fit for a rugged vehicle where utility and durability are more important.

I had a similar thought about the plastic argument after that Wrangler Forum thread. I have had a couple of Wranglers and while i never paid that much attention to the plastic in the dash - i guess it was always good for the use. Similar to the Wranglers i intend to ride with top down and doors off as much as possible and invariably I will get caught open in a rain storm at some point so my main desire is to have materials that will hold up to that.
A question - I think much of the commentary on the materials is based on seeing the Broncos that did the dealer tours - do we know for sure that the dash and doors were the actual final products that will be used in our rigs - or were they frankenstein models that used test parts? Could the final versions have better levels of materials in the dash and doors?

I know, right? Everyone's use case is different, I guess. It’s just not a big consideration for me, but I realize it is a big issue for some other members.

In Arkansas - The Natural State - muddy trails and river crossings are everyday occurrences, because 19 million acres (56% of the state) is forestland.

Here is an example of what it's like wheelin' in my backyard. Video courtesy of Grant Willbanks, local offroader with a growing YouTube channel (Arkansas Offroad). It quickly illustrates the kind of terrain we typically navigate here, and shows why the wash-out interior of the Black Diamond and Badlands trim packages are appropriate for my local use case...

It's pretty bad. The upper dash and upper door inserts are most noticeable. I cant remember the last vehicle I've been in that had a true hard plastic, knock hollow upper dash. Theres always some degree of injection mold to soften this up some. At least on OBX and up, the upper door inserts are replaced by a slightly better material (that's the only difference across the trims in term of material BTW). But the upper dash is very bothersome. I'll live with it. But i think deep down it bothers me the most since its such a glaring item, that I know it will be swapped out with something better in a couple years. Same goes for the rear A/C vents. Its like an obvious 1st year omission.
I wonder if they used that harder plastic for easy cleanability, easier to wipe off dust etc. ? I prefer the more soft touch plastics like in my F150....but you do need to use special cleaners or conditioners to keep it looking nice and shiny. The soft touch does seem to attract dust and dirt, sticks to it. Maybe that is why they went with harder plastics. (I have not had the opportunity to see a Bronco or touch, I have seen photos where the dash appears to be textured though).

This plastic feels cheaper than other plastics. I can't think of another way to say it, wife said the same thing. It's not throw your hands up forget it , but it feels cheaper than my f150...which is plastic. I don't think anyone is looking for exotic woods...but some of it feels like a 15k honda civic, not a 60k truck.

just my 2c
You touch your plastic dash a lot? Asking for a friend.

I’m getting MVG and washout floors, so I find it ironic that for some reason the BD has a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Why?
Also, they give you the option of not having the headliner for washout reasons but then put carpet on the back of the rear seats. Weird
