I don't particularly like the look of the soft tops either, but I sure like how they open up so fast and without storing anything. It seems to be all about giving up something with all these choices. I am not too concerned about the road spray. Anything lifted with lots of tire grooving is going to pick up a ton of water. Big front and back mud flaps are going to ruin the high clearance look and small plastic ones are going to do that much to change the road spray. Moving to the Mojave would certainly cut down on the problem for most of the year though! 🙃

I don't see too much difference in the wheel wells but it looks like it has a ton of rake....
