Not really, that's been going on for a couple years now. The Yellow Bilsteins flat out suck. Either lose the entire reservoir or just all the fluid leaks out. Happened to 2 of my shocks about 6 months ago or so.

Anybody know if this is 21/22 models only? I haven't seen any so far, at least that I've noticed.

Built at the lowest price point possible per Ford.

Upgrade to the 6100s on all four corners instead of buying a new shock.
Why reward them with cash, get the Eibach Pro Truck 2.0 and get a mile warranty. What's up with the warranty on the Bilstein's?

Any one else have the shock reservoir fall off ???

Most recent reservoir failure. Expect to see more and more of these incidents especially by those that live up north. @zombie was fortunate to have them covered under warranty. Good luck on your claim.

I completely understand your reasoning.

I'm an automotive engineer, and know the factory Bilsteins are built to the lowest price point possible. Designed to last right up to the end of the warranty.

If Fox or Eibach won the bid, it would probably be the same.

6100s are the best shock in the midrange market. I'm away from my computer, but there are a few YT videos with blind testing that usually has the 6100s coming out on top.

Ford said to Bilstein, ā€œBuild us the cheapest shocks you have ever built that have reservoirs and then make them even cheaper with zero corrosion protection and crappy weldsā€.

Ha! I'm sure they tried.

I'm in technical sales now, so very very used to the bidding process.

Bilstein either came in the lowest (Probably not), or Ford haggled them to death and dangled the carrot.

Which is funny that the WildTrak has Foxes, and not the Ford Performance lift kit.

A part of me wonders if the Ford Performance lift was supposed to be the WildTrak suspension.

Or that was a part of the deal. Ford would use the 6100s as the upgrade kit, and probably planned to market it to Sasquatch, non-Sas etc, but COVID happened.

Thatā€™s kind of what I figured. The quality of the shock got worse as Ford haggled with the price.

Bean counters are the arch nemesis of engineers.
