Right side extended you say? Well that pic is taken head on on the rocks. Im not seeing it, but its level if you look at my red lines and if right side extended? Yellow lines wouldve been where it should be?
I found another pic that has a level Bronco and a drooped wheel.

With that new pic, it looks like the winch is maybe in front of the front diff. Putting a pulley or a guide to get the cable where it is.

I zoomed in on it, can't see much, but I will agree, it is not where I thought it might be, it looks further back and I think that bracket under the skid is some sort of fairlead or pulley , as you suggest.

It takes away the bloated after Thanksgiving meal look for sure.It's that flare to tire gap.
You can bet It's still going to be pricy and you may need to re-gear the rear to match as most portals that I know of are gear reduction units. They also require more frequent service for the juice in the portal boxes.
