Anyone know exactly what the engine cycle test is and how accurate it is at diagnosis of this issue. I have a 2021 2.7L that will be recalled.

The recall hasn’t been released yet. There is no service information or anything else yet.

probably compression and leak down To see if the valves have given out at all, Then borescope to see if anything broke and made its way into the cylinders.

can the heads be removed without pulling the engine? They might pop new heads on affected engines and only do a full replacement if the cylinders have damage.

Ford to recall 90,736 vehicles over engine valve issue, US regulators say

Looks like the defective valves that gave many issues here are an official recall now:

"Ford (F)will recall 90,736 vehicles as engine intake valves in the vehicles may break while driving, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Saturday.

The recall impacts certain 2021-2022 Bronco, F-150, Edge, Explorer, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with either a 2.7L or 3.0L Nano EcoBoost engine, the NHTSA said.

As part of the remedy, dealers will perform an engine cycle test and replace the engine as necessary, free of charge, the regulator said."
Well, maybe they can also figure out whats up with my Powertrain Malfunctions I have been receiving for two years and after 2 weeks on separate occasions the clowns at Autonation Ford in Miami claimed to have fixed the issue. Fire Farley.

Same here. How do we know our dealer even has someone really qualified to do this. Not to mention downtime in the shop with potential damage to the vehicle in their care.
My experience with Autonation Ford Miami is that I would not trust them to change my oil let alone an engine.
such junk...I'm pretty far outside the date range but this is ridiculous. We have to worry about valves, cam phasers and crappy hardtops. This is just off the top of my head. I am so done with Ford and UAW garbage altogether. I'm one major warranty repair from getting rid of this thing. What sucks is my 3/36 expires in less than a year and as little as I drive it the thing won't have 5000 miles on it by that time.
Agree. If they have to replace my engine this Ford Bronco junk is gone. The Land Cruiser looking very good and its a Toyota Hybrid.

Engine sticker date of 21302 puts me right at the end of the window and should get notified for the test. 27k miles and no issue and not crazy about my dealer swapping engines if required. I’d go extended warranty all day.

i think read owners notified in October?

You just have to visit the Mustang and Ranger forums to find out the 2.3 has its own list of problems.

"Ford has been slapped with a class action lawsuit that claims coolant can leak into the cylinders of its popular 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-pot engine, found in several Ford and Lincoln models.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, alleges that coolant leaks into the engine can cause power loss, cylinder wall corrosion, oil dilution, contamination, and eventual engine failure. It also claims that insufficient coolant from these leaks could lead to engine overheating, potentially resulting in “catastrophic engine failures and potential engine fires”."
I'm interested if you see more detailed info on 2.3 motor issues.

According to a quick internet search on the quoted 2.3 lawsuit the following came up:
It's worth noting that while the query specifically asked about the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, the available search results primarily discuss issues with the 1.5L, 1.6L, and 2.0L EcoBoost engines. The 2.3L engine is not explicitly mentioned in these results.

Check the sticker on your engine. You will find the julian date. Here is a link on how to read that.

You might be close, I am a lil outside the window and mine is an early January 22 build. Mine is 21356 - just outside the window.

Regardless, I look at it this way…if you’re in the window, your Bronco was just de-valued. An extended warranty is just the functional equivalent of paying diminished value. Replacing an engine will help offset that, but you’ll have a significant carfax record, so good luck.

My early 21' is within that window but I've known that for a while. Knowing that an engine could let go at anytime; Ford should do what Toyota is doing with every 3.5L and replace it. A faulty valve is little bit more serious than debris in the engine.

Not following the workshop manual or the way Ford wants it done. Engine removal is required.

They were devalued when they started failing. Them acknowledging the issue doesn't make it worse.

Sure it does. Cause now it’s official and an otherwise ignorant buyer will have the info on record

If anything my car is valued higher than other 2021s or even 2022s, would you want a 2021 Bronco with 75k miles and no warranty or one that has 75k miles left of warranty?

at the end of the day, CarFax doesnt matter as long as the car wasnt wrecked
