ok, but is the 4 really that bad? i'm sure with a slight tune, you could up the power quite a bit. but for every day, with all that torque, it's plenty. if you are racing the bronco, i'm sure you're going to wait for the warthog or just tune the 2.7 with the 5 star tune and get almost 400hp.
I think most people will find it acceptable, truth is, I might just get a base with the 4 for a daily/convertible option when the dust dettles on this roll out, or is that roll, stumble, fall down, start again roll out.

I did drive that 4 in an explorer and I was uninspired, but that's my perspective, most things from Ford are less when your daily is a Raptor.

I wonder if there is validity to the people who are saying Ford tunes these to be restricted for the 1st 1000 miles. Does anyone know that to be a fact with Ford vehicles in general?

@Nickp, In your driving, did you feel handicapped not having Sport mode?
That is in my written review but I’ll preview it here, without sport mode on Bronco is pretty slow right off the line, however it picks up once you’re going. Just from 0-5 MPH when you punch it, it totally pulls timing. Talking with some journalists at dinner they said sport mode makes a pretty big difference off the line. It’s still a powerful engine, and once you’re outside 5 MPH it really picks up the pace, but in normal mode I think I was about 6.5-7 second 0-60 and I would bet sport mode will knock that down another .5-1 second or so. One of my biggest negatives that Badlands/1st edition doesn’t come with sport mode, pretty annoying tbh.

i went from an m3 to a tdi golf. so i get it. but for every day where you don't need all the power, the turbo 4s are pretty good.
i just with that the mid package wasn't dependent on the transmission choice. black diamond, manual, mid package would be my perfect choice. i need the heated seats.

A more meaningful test for the 2.3 may be to run the 2.3 10AT in both a 2 and 4-door Bronco against a 2.310AT Ranger, then do the 2.37MT 2/4dr Bronco against the 2.310AT Ranger.

I don’t read or hear complaints about the merging ability of the Ranger so it the Bronco performs similarly to the pickup then where’s the problem?

I’ve used this website before and I’ve found it quite accurate. That 2.7L has the power to move the Bronco, I still think people will be surprised by how quick it’ll be. Also is the Bronco front wheel or rear wheel when it’s in 2 wheel? I’ve never even thought about it.

Watch the 2.7 acceleration video...8.1 seconds 0-60
8 seconds for a manual seems realistic since he shifted twice. I find it hard to believe a 2.7 auto can't make that run in <6.5 seconds. That is, unless Ford is limiting torque to protect the 10R60 ;)

Another great review by TFL. I'm still hoping that the Bronco can be just a little quicker, but if it's not, that's fine.

The one their driving is a 2 door and 32s instead of 35s. I believe it.

my bad it is a four-door
... and 33" tires. Not 32's. Badlands comes with 33" tires standard.

When in 2WD mode, the Bronco is in rear-wheel drive. It's basically like most other true 4WD systems out there.

Thanks, that was my assumption so I was correct.

I’m thinking Ford has a conservative tune on the 2.7 until it breaks in at 1000 miles, well at least I’m hoping.
I've seen this repeated on this forum several times. This is not a thing. The Bronco isn't some exotic with a hand built, high strung, exotic engine.

The thought that the Bronco somehow has power limiting software for the first xxxx miles is ridiculous.
