I battled internally for weeks on the 7 speed coolness versus the 10 speed to get mid package. Getting trail turn assist seemed cooler than shifting gears at this point in my life and the mid package sealed the deal. So if Ford used a 10R80 or 10R60 or 10R10 be damned, I'm gonna do turning digs on every dirt road turn I can find the first day I get my Bronco.

What year? Over 130,000 on the original rotors here.
2017 supercrew, 3.5, 35” MT tires. Wouldnt say heavy duty towing through the mountains, heaviest load was 3400lb offroad trailer. Replaced both times by dealership with oem parts under warranty. Both independent brake shop and dealership confirmed warped rotors. Once I hit my 36k miles I switched pads & rotors out to aftermarket and no issues in 15k miles.

Some guy was sitting at home wondering why Ford named the transmissions 60, 80, 140, whatever. Using ft.-lbs. didn't work out, so they started plugging in other torque values and Newton-meters seemed to work, so they went with that. Even though Ford doesn't quote or spec Newton-meters anywhere. Even though Ford could just as easily used numbers that represented ft.-lbs. Even though the 140 transmission (1400 Nm = 1032 ft.-lbs.) is paired with an engine that makes 1050 ft.-lbs. in stock form.
It maybe because Ford is an international company and the rest of the world speaks metric.

MY bad but is the 10r60 been identified as the transmission being equipped officially?

As an engineer, I can vouch that all my designs (and those of my colleages) always worked out to nice, round capacity numbers /s

Because several forum members who are neither mechanics, nor mechanical engineers, nor physicists, nor aware of actual specifications / thresholds / limitations have proclaimed that the 60 is objectively wimpier than the 80 because 8>6, and that the 60 is guaranteed to explode within 10k miles of ownership.
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw the transmission break down at 31 Flavors last night. 😄

Bonus points if you know where I ripped that off.

Unless its a stick. Cant imagine why you would put a diesel behind a 10 spd. Itd never stop shifting with a narrow rpm range.
That's exactly why you would want a 10spd behind a diesel, narrow power band=Mo spds=Mo better.

havent read it all but the R60 has slightly higher (better) 1st and 2nd gear ratio for the Bronco :)
Interesting thought, hoped you were right but they are the same...or nearly identical:

I see they used the 10R80 in the 2017 Raptor which is 510 lb/ft torque stock. At 590 lb/ft rating, it wouldn't take too much modification on the Raptor to knock on the transmission max rated torque door and I haven't heard of any mass failures of that tranny in the Raptor.

Get out of here with your "facts." How can we continue our full blown panic with you doing that?
