We are using the production transmission... 10R80?

Racing with another transmission and calling it production grade is really low brow.
Needs a corrective statement with new race results using the 10R60 to prove it's ready for the market.
Its clear that at some point last year, the 10R80 was the transmission of choice for the Bronco. I wonder why they changed it.

That wasn’t a stock truck, although they shouldn’t have said it was the production transmission.

They did however race a stock truck with stock tranny in a grueling race (and placed). Like I linked above...

I was at a Bronco event at the dealership and took the following pic from a non-squatched Black Diamond. Not sure what kind of transmission the letter Q refers to. Perhaps the more knowledgeable folks on this forum can help.

If I remember I will check the code on Monday. Will it be a "T" code on the Explorer?

If the “60” in 10R60 actually stands for 600 NM, does that mean the transmission will explode when experiencing 601 NM? Or does it mean it can handle 600NM pulling 10000lbs up a 7% grade continuously for 1000 hours while low on fluid?

My point being, that we don’t know enough to be jumping to conclusions as to whether the 10R60 is borderline, way overkill, or somewhere in between.

ps. Isn’t the 10R80 actually rated for 900 NM as of 2018? So are we just assuming the 60 means 600 NM? Or is that spec published somewhere?

I’m sure it’s not to big of an issue, Ford wouldn’t want to be replacing them all with warranty.
Ford also put the powershift DCT in the focus and Fiesta beside knowing they were faulty before hand....

Going by the logic in this thread my old explorer sport (3.5EB) with a 6F55 would be around 400 ft lbs rating. I had it tuned over that with very firm shifts for 100k miles with zero issues. I drove it hard too.

The stock transmission schedule has a ton of torque management so it ramps on gradually during a shift. My tune eliminated this, mostly at least.

I'm not worried about this.

First off....The “R” Ford engineers (in the Bronco Nation video) said they were using/racing the same transmissions that are going into the production Broncos.... the 10R80.

Secondly, many of us were under the impression that the drivetrain was proven based on the F-150 (I.e. the 2.7 Ecoboost with the 10R80 10spd AT.) foremat.

Third, we paid an extra 1,800 dollars for what is pictured (through there build and price) as the 10R80 transmission.

Fourth.... with 35” off road tires any reasonable person would expect a truck transmission to drive 400 lbs worth of wheels and tires over rocks and extreme off-road conditions ..... not a transmission rated for a car/suv.
Any 9 year old could understand that!!!

So for these four reasons...I’m expecting “Hell to freeze over”....:devilish:
And....
when I pick up my new Bronco it will have the 10R80 ten speed transmission Ford had promised.

either that or.....
Ford is looking at a huge “bait and switch” class action law suit!!!

got my fingers crossed!!!:sneaky:

Even though we know the trans will be a 10R60, I climbed under a Badlands at the Frisco, Texas event to get photos of the transmission part number stickers, the first one is from the door jamb.
