Hey Bronco6G šŸ‘‹
Figured it was time to officially introduce myself. I’m Gloria—Army veteran šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø and a proud Bronco owner since 2022. I’ve been off-roading for a while now and have competed twice in the Rebelle Rally, which for anyone unfamiliar is a multi-day, all-women navigation rally through some pretty remote desert terrain (no GPS, lots of problem solving, and a whole lot of trust in your vehicle).

The Bronco has been an absolute beast, and the rally really taught me what’s actually a must-have vs. what just looks cool on Instagram šŸ˜…. A few things I won’t hit the trail without anymore:

Must-Haves (from real-world experience):

  • Solid tool kit – you don’t need a full shop, but enough to tighten, fix, or limp out
  • Recovery gear – straps, shackles, boards… because help isn’t always nearby
  • Lots of water – more than you think you’ll need (for you and emergencies)
  • First aid kit – non-negotiable, especially when you’re far from pavement
  • Windshield protection (ExoShield Ultra) – desert racing taught me real quick how valuable this is against rock chips and cracks

I’m here to learn, share what’s worked (and what hasn’t), and connect with other Bronco owners who actually use their rigs. If you’ve got questions about the Rebelle Rally, desert prep, or Bronco setup, I’m always happy to help.

Looking forward to being part of the community 🤘

— Gloria

I’m running Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus. They did really well during the rally. A lot lighter than the Mats I was running before. I was impressed. They also released a new offroad tire but still doing some testing on their 35s and up

Congrat's on running the Rebelle Rally, it's a cool event. Back in my working days, I helped set up some factory sponsored rigs (not Ford), and worked with the teams engineering. The ladies always had a good time, and appreciated having their own event to show their skills. 🤠

That’s really cool and it definitely is an awesome event! Last year was no easy feat! We definitely were hit with some difficult CPs and intense terrain!

Having not heard of this event, I went to the website this morning with the coffee. How is the race pace? It doesn't seem like pedal-to-the-metal go as fast as you can and take chances passing someone; or, is it?

I see you and your co-driver finished a respectable 12th of 60 participants. Well done, and I'm suspecting you will return and attempt to improve your finish. Is there one or two incidents(?) that prevented a top ten finish? What changes might you make for this year's event?

If anyone is interested:

12 Fords; 19 Jeeps; 7 Land Rovers; 16 Toyotas; 4 Ineos; 1 Nissan; and, 1 Lexus.

Six of the top 12 teams were driving a Ford. Five of the six Fords were Raptors--including two Ranger Raptors.

Correct! It is not a race for speed. It’s about precision but time management is so important. We are given coordinates every morning that we must plot in a certain amount of time before we are off the starting line. Those plots give us our route for the day so we start each day not knowing our route until after we plot. From there, the check points have open and closing times which we must get to. To stay at the top, the goal is to always get to the check points at the top of the hour so you have enough time when you get to the harder checkpoints. IE the black caps as those aren’t marked with a flag or pole. We must use our map reading skills.

I'm suspecting your land nav training in the Army helped. Do teams swap driver and navigator duties?

Welcome! awesome pics!! Swing by the 6G for newbs posts. I wish you could get my wife interested in some women events. She likes the pavement. I've offered to buy and build her an offroad machine. She has a HEEP that is built up the right way, but she doesn't it scratched.
