On my way back from Anza Borrego today I did a 130 mile gas mileage test. I reset the fuel economy gage, put my Bronco in Eco GOAT mode, and adjusted my tire pressure to 35 psi. I drove at the speed limit and above, stayed with the flow of traffic. The terrain consisted of up hill, down hill but mostly flat freeway. I ended the test at 19.1 average MPG. 2022 Bronco Wildtrak, regular unleaded fuel, air conditioner running the whole time.

What PSI did you set your tires at when you were off-roading before the mpg test?

20 psi on the sand. Then aired back up to 35 psi when I got back on the paved road.

So what mpg do you get if you hand calculated this drive? My SuperDuty lie-o-meter is always .5-.6 mpg optimistic….

Thanks

Food for thought -

I drive 17 miles one way to work - rural paved road - One stop sign, two red lights.

Leaving my home, the speed limit goes from 45 to 35, then back up to 45, 50, then down to 45, 35, then there is a school - then back to 35 until I turn on the SR, then its 50 again to the office.

I have averaged 18.6 MPG over several tanks of fuel. The road does have ups and downs, hills and grades. I typically drive 5mph over and set cruise. 87 Octane.

I just put in Premium 93 Octane for this tank, and I am averaging 20.2 this week, same driving style.

Of course, I have not done the math to see if the 1.6 MPG difference is worth the increased fuel cost, but there are other things to consider including performance, maintenance, reliability, etc.

I have reset my trip B to keep tabs over the next few tanks of fuel to see how well it does.

Hmmm. My brand new 2.7 Sasquatch Base 2 door is getting almost 21 average out of the gate- stopping at lights and driving around town. Very impressive for what it is and a lot more than I expected to get.

My fuel meter says the same thing but when I divide miles by gallons added, it's 18 to 19.

My fuel meter says 18.1 pretty consistently, over 16k miles so far. It will fluctate a bit so it isn't stuck or anything, just this is about what my Bronco seems to average.

But I only get about 350 miles to a tank.

350 / 21 ~= 16.5 mpg

My F150 with the same 21 gal tank would get about 380 miles to a tank, but it would read 17.0 mpg on the on-board computer.

So... I don't know.

Wow, that result, at least to me, is very impressive. Though I can drive with a heavy foot some times, the highest I have ever attained is 16.5 mpg.
I should state I have the 2.3L MT.

Mine is all over the place. I've kept a spreadsheet since I bought my first BL in '21, and only 5 times has it worked out to be the same.

You must really have a lead foot-my 2.3 7MT gets 18ish on a 10 mile commute, with hills involved, and I've gotten 23 on a steady 60mph pace. 16 is my snowy day mileage. I'm going to say that your Bronco is living a good life for sure!

I usually feed mine Marathon, or Sunoco if I can get it. BP goes through like diet Pepsi through a 4 year old.

Ha, perhaps my lead foot is a bit heavier than I thought. I run minimum 91 octane, and for all highway driving I will put 94 octane in, which definitely makes a difference in the "get up and go" of the Bronco.
I will obviously have to revise my highway driving and see if I can attain your 23! Wish me luck...

Well, well, well... A lead-footed poacher. My favorite.

Speed crushes mpg. 2020 F350 diesel 4x4 with S&B 60g tank. Denver to Louisville. Waiting on my 2024 Wildtrak SAS to become my daily. Hoping the ECO mode shows some benefits as it does in the F350
