Nearly exclusively on road, off-road it depends on the terrain.

Mind you, I don't get that mileage on 35's, I tend to get about 19 mpg. 4A Sport Mode using Adaptive cruise control.
What size tires are you running when you get that mileage? Keep in mind that changing the tire size is going to change the speedometer, and the vehicle will think you're getting different mileage than you are. Bigger tires and it thinks you're going slower and less fuel mileage, smaller tires and it thinks you're going faster and more fuel mileage ;)

True but you can recalibrate the speedometer with ProCal or Forscan to correct for that

You can, but if someone is getting 23mpgs at 85mph with the V6 on flat ground, I'd bet good money they didn't ;)

I once maintained ~23mpgs driving home from the PGH airport - 55mph speed limit and lots of hills which allowed me to coast downhills and build up speed for the uphills. As soon as the speed limit went to 65 my mpgs started to drop ;)

Independent GPS isn't fooled by tire size changes and hand calculation is unphased by that as well.

This particular trip door to door was 372 miles per Google maps (it was really 365 miles once you take into account the actual locations that I fueled up). Topping off after the trip required 15.56 gallons of fuel.

365/15.56 = 23.45 mpg

Typically I saw a range between 22.5 and 24.5 mpg depending on the traffic and conditions. I calibrated my Bronco tire size based on my independent GPS reading.

Any other questions?

BTW, I am the idiot who has a laptop with FORSCAN in the car all the time, I have reprogrammed my Bronco more times than I can remember.

Calculated by what pump and mileage says and it’s off by almost 0.9 mpg. So about 23.9. 2.7 OBX 2 door 4.27 gear. Stay out off the boost as much as possible. Running 93 no tune.

Well, considering that you sampled over 8.3 times the distance (including stops) and your mpg drift was 0.9 mpg vs my drift of 0.05 under nearly nonstop conditions on a shorter course... That seems pretty damn good.

There is always going to be some inaccuracy between the hand calculated and the actual mileage, especially when you think about the fact that the tank and the gauges are not truly precision equipment. I am sure that if I looked at every trip closely over a longer period of time, I would see greater divergence between the gauges and hand calculated mileage.

Dam I don't know how you guys are getting this kind of mpg. I have owned four 6g broncos and never got better than 19mpg. And that was a 2 door hard top black diamond with stock non SAS tires. All my others have averaged around 17.5. 87 octane gas both 2.3 and 2.7 motors all auto trans no sport mode . But I didn't buy it for the MPG

The stock Black Diamond steelies and General Grabbers would drop my mileage into the 19's with the stock exhaust. Ask me how I know...

It’s all about reducing drag, road friction, rotating mass, and overall weight.

I've got a 22 OBX with almost 29K miles. I'm currently getting 20.1 mpg, but have been as high as 20.4 recently. I only use regular unleaded. I drive a lot in either ECO or Standard (occasionally in sport, or an off road setting as appropriate). I have a hard top, but with a soft bimini for my front seats that I keep open quite a bit during good weather.

The computer in my '24 2.3 OBX is at least an MPG off every time I hand calculate, so I would take any computer posts with a (heavy) grain of salt.

In 10k miles, I'm averaging 24.5 hand-calculated. 93, Top Tier only, BUT I only have 275/65r18, same diameter but wider than stock, and I drive 50% highway, 25% back roads, and 25% city.

2.7l w/ SAS OBX here. For the first 5k miles... I struggled to get anything greater than the mid-teens. But once I crossed that mileage threshold, I get close to 20 in the city and highways to 23. Just did a recent roadtrip of 240 miles, cruise mostly set at 78mph... it delivered 20.9.
