Thankyou so much. I too have a 96 that is my wifes daily driver(i drive beater jeeps lol). It also serves as the vehicle we always take when we go together. I really want a 2 door to replace our 96 as her daily but I have to talk her into the size. She wants a 4 door. So we will see when we can test drive em but for now these may help my cause as its not really that much smaller.

That makes my decision to go auto and 2.7 even easier. I don’t just want decent power in 6 to gear. Even though I really want the manual I just can’t sacrifice power to get it.

Ford gave us no choice but to sacrifice power to get the manual.

In either case, you're talking about putting power through a 36% overdrive ....the moment you touch the throttle the auto will down shift because it's a damn tall gear.

So actually, saying it has decent power in 6th is pretty damn impressive.

Either way, 4 or 6 cyl, somebody or something will down shift out of top overdrive in order for these things to get out of their own way.

The question I have is regarding the cup holders. I like the horizontal orientation a a lot. But I have wondered if my cup might get in the way when I am trying to shift gears. When I look at this picture here, and see the coffee cup in the passenger side slot, that really makes me wonder.

So my question.. whose cup is that exactly? the driver’s or passenger’s?

That was the drivers. Once I got in I put my beverage on my side after he moved his to his side. I didn't notice any issues with his ability to shift and he didn't hit his cup as far as I could tell.

I think the ford spec 174 is to the back of the spare. In the picture you quoted the person who did it didn't account for the perspective. IE the tire isn't in the same plane as the tires. The best place to see what I am trying to describe is the offset in the front hood markers.

Looks to me like bumper to bumper is 164 or so.

The length is off by 10"? So do we know the dimensions of the roof, of the 2-door?

I don't know the width, but the length of the hard top, excluding the window frame, is about 83 inches.

So I have been trying to get this set up for awhile, but today the stars finally aligned. A buddy of mine was able to bring by one of the pre-production (This point is key for later) 2021 Black Diamonds by with the base package, upgraded wheels and tires (32s), and with the roof rails. We met at a nearby park and parked it next to my 1996 Eddie Bauer with it's 31s. We parked near the drain, so that's the reason they both seem to "lean".
