People have been saying this nearly my entire life. Meanwhile FCA is cramming the Hellcat motor into everything. LOL.

Don't worry - plenty of people will embarrass themselves driving Sasquatch models mainly to the supermarket and coffee shop. ;)
I see these Sasquatch owners justifying their purchase by jumping the curb at the grocery store parking lot and taking their beloved vehicle to the top of the berm, so everyone can see it like Simba on Pride Rock in the Lion KIng.

I'm going to go out on a real short limb and say that reading comprehension is not your strong suit. The article you posted says the majority of engines on the road are now 4 cylinders. It does not say V8 motors, and inline 6 motors, are going away. ;)

Seriously though, I'm 47 and since before I could drive I can remember hearing "The EPA is going to have it where you can't even have a V8 in the next few years."

When I bought my first car on my own (a used 2-door S-10 Blazer) I remember plenty of people saying "Glad you got the 4.3 liter V6 because motors like that won't be allowed much longer."

When I bought my C5 Corvette I heard the same thing.

When I bought the C6 Corvette, same thing.

I am selling a 2016 Challenger Hellcat to get a Bronco and I remember tons of people making a big deal about the Hellcat being the last of a dying breed and that you better grab one now before you can't buy a big V8 anymore.

So yeah, I've heard it since the late 80's at least, or most of my life.

Will it eventually be true? Probably. Soon? I'm not counting on it.

2.7 is what I'm leaning towards though I must say that I am happy for the most part with the 4.0l in my xterra and that has less power than the 2.3l so maybe I go the other route. I'll have a better idea once I have run through the build and price about 1,000 times.

Decisions, decisions....

I’m gonna have to test drive them and see which engine/transmission combo feels right to me.

I love driving a slow car fast especially with a manual transmission but my wife refuses to learn to drive a stick and looks like there might be some reliability and carbon build up issues with the 2.3L motor.

The 2.7L sounds like it will have some nice power and is pretty reliable. But if the transmission hunts for gears and shifts weird I’ll definitely have to add that to my decision.

At the end of the day I’m pretty happy to have options and hopefully one or more will be enjoyable to drive.

2.7 all the way, not so sure the inline 4 will hold up as long over time, like 100,000+ km's.
I want to go fast offroad, not into crawling that much.
