My 10 year old 3.5 Ecoboost DI only motor doesn't have that issue (so while many may have that issue, mine never has and continues to run strong). I don't know what makes mine different from the others, but it might have something to do with driving style.For me, the issue is fuel injection. Several mechanics have told me that direct injection motors will eventually have carboned valve issues. 2.3 is direct injection. 2.7 has direct and port injection. Port injection keeps the valves clean.
When Ford releases the 2.3 performance tune you're really going to love it even more. Tunes then the 2.3 into a beast.I originally ordered the 2.7, 2-door, non-sasquatch Big Bend. Due to some still unexplained error, what I received was an Outer Banks with 2.3. (In fact, the entire build is not what I ordered. The colour, trim, options and engine are completely different from my order). Regardless of the colossal screw-up, I took delivery a little more than a week ago.
After driving this Bronco for a short time I can honestly say that not only is the 2.3 adequate, it's actually quite good! Because I received the wrong build I will be driving this one until my new order eventually arrives but now my new order will also have the 2.3.
My 2019 Ranger had the 2.3l engine. It was fantastic. With that said, my Bronco has the 2.7l engine and it is fantastic after 1100 mile in. I figured the difference in MPG was minimal, and I am building a Bronco from scratch. Might as well get the 2.7l.I'm curious how many on this thread have driven both? It seemed like a huge difference to me. I have driven a 2.7 4dr, 2dr and a 2.3 4dr.
That is true about engine bay size / access.The 2.3 under the hood is very open and Accessible . The 2.7 under there is almost a nitemare to get to something for a repair. Later down the road the 2.3 might be better for repairs . Huge difference.
Why would this hurt my feelings when I have a 2.7 on order and can go pay cash for a 392 Rubicon if I wanted too?Hurt feelings??

Some 3.5's have both. at 10 years old, yours probably doesn't. As you pointed out, driving style has a lot to do with engine longevity. Looks like someone can’t read the scale or the receipt…Right until you realize that most of the heft was probably Sasquatch related, as my 2D 2.7 OBX weighs 4319# from the factory with the heavier V6. You can learn more from reading one rail car receipt than you can from any number of articles by so called automotive experts.

No not at all. I think the shipping weight is based on "base OB" vehicle weight, not actually weight.So you think that the rail company got it wrong?
