Fine ,what if you run 32" as a daily driver . 3500 rpm at 45 mph . The 2.3 engine write up has everything built near max limits . A 50 yr shop mech on YouTube figures it will fade at 80-90 k miles as small turbo engine don't last.
If your doing that you’ll be in boost all the time....don’t do that

I agree 100% though, that the turbo is a wear item. Scotty has that right. But everything else associated to that comment or with his click-bait thread is worth F-all nothing.

The 2.3 has a turbo, therefore, you should assume at some point you'll have to replace it if you're trying to get 150-200k miles out of it....

Also, the 2.7 has two turbos. Sooooooooo, twice the repair bill (actually about three times), based upon twin-turbo applications over the history of automotive applications.

That being said, there won't be many aftermarket turbos made for these vehicles due to the integration of the exhaust manifolds and wastegates. Manufacturing costs will be sky high. Would bet that any aftermarket turbos made will be built for max power. But I only have experience with building my Mitsubishi Evolution track car and going through turbos and setups every few years.

A friend had an 06 STI (he bought new) and he had to replace his turbo a couple of years ago. And I think the only reason he had to do that was because he didn't change his oil...don't ask.

I think for the vast majority of 2.3's and modern turbo cars in general will never have to replace a turbo. But like any moving part it is subject to failure, especially if it isn't looked after.

You can currently buy a large twin scroll aftermarket drop-in for the 2.3 Mustang for about $2k. So I'd assume the same mods will be available eventually for the Bronco.

So if I may, shat was his oil change interval, and did he take monthly documentation of oil levels?

Just asking as I've had a few forced induction cars (Mazda Speed3, Evo 9, then a bunch of 750 CFM carb cars that dropped panties)

I know he wasn't checking it regularly. I think he was in a tough spot at the time and wasn't paying any attention to his car.

I believe it blew while he was driving so it was a big chunk of change at the time.

I did an excel table with 33’s based on the Ranger dyno numbers. Basically green is where the torque comes up then drop offs which is in relation to where the boost will be coming up. The way I look at it, quick passes will likely be a double gear drop from 7, with 33’s. Likely guaranteed with 35’s. Maybe slip the clutch a bit like a 2-stroke dirt bike to get the Boosty Boi spinning vs shifting. ?
