Yes, much more peppy (esp. in a 2 door manual) with gains as follows for the 2.3L:
55 HP (Stock: 275 HP @ 5700 RPM | Power Pack: 330 HP @ 5500 RPM)
70 ft lbs of torque (Stock: 315 lb-ft @3400 RPM | Power Pack: 385 lb-ft @3500 RPM)
https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-B23

The power increase in applied to all modes, this makes ECO mode much more enjoyable to drive.

What this doesn't tell you is you have to be much more careful with your heavy foot or you can really take a huge hit on your mileage.

Pre upgrade I was averaging 16.8 -17.1 accelerating pretty aggressively. Once I applied the power pack, and test drove it with the same "enthusiasm" my average over 2 tanks dropped to 15.8.

But with the HO and torque increase you dont have to be quite and heavy with the throttle and once you dial it back in and use Eco in the city and Normal mode on the highway I have been able to get my average back up to the 16.6 - 16.8 range again.

This is with a sizeable roof rack upgrade and a hard shell RTT, so results may vary depending on your loadout.

I am very happy with this overall, but those spare fuel cans will become a much more critical part of my overlanding kit :).

Thanks for the info much appreciated.

Should keep up with its 2.7 friends at the shop now!
No, no it won’t. Stock times are at or just under 7 for 0-60 with the 2.7

Isn't that a comparison of the pre-tune motor on 87 octane and the post-tune on 93 octane? I mean there IS a gain and I DO think it's a bargain but I thought, apples for apples, it was a 30 HP gain as the 2.3L makes 300 HP/325 lb-ft on 93 octane?

It depends on if you are talking dr vs 4 dr. Accoring to this comparison even the Dr 2.7L with 10 Sp Auto is slower 0-60 (@7.5 sec) than the 2 dr 2.3L (@ 5.9 sec).

The 4 Dr 2.7L is the same as the 2 Dr 2.3L @5.9 Sec, and the 4 Dr 2.3L has a significantly wide range based on trim

Excellent call out, I had to go back and check and you are correct, the 2.3L stock config is:
on 83 Octane 275HP and on 93 Octane 300.
Perf Tune only lists high octane power as 330HP, given linear assumptions (which isnt realistic but works here) you could assume on 83 Octane the Perf Tune would be somewhere in the to 300-315 HP range

The performance tune ONLY advances the timing after it senses the 93 octane fuel. The performance with 83 octane remains the same as before the tune because nothing is changed in the mapping until the system sees the higher octane fuel. Not all technically correct just trying to present this in a none technical way.

Without performance tune stock configuration and using 91-93 you get 300hp
with performance tune using 91 octane (I believe you get 300). Not until higher octaone is used the computer does its thing to achieve the 330 hp
