@ScLeCo I wonder why ford would replace everything if a loose nut is found. It’s almost they think loose threads on a vehicle will become damaged…🤔
@74Weld
Yeah and then those damaged threads will become a safety hazard and should not be driven on. Even to “just get you on the road so you can get home”

What’s the easiest way to determine your build date?
It's listed on the top line of the build sticker in the driver's door jam

It’s fiiiiiiiiiiine. I don’t even tighten my jam nuts. What’s the point when I’ll just need to loosen them again when making adjustments?

What ever happened to a castle nut and cotter pin? I was disappointed when I first saw this. Cost cutting. Too critical of a attachment point, replacement is due to the taper being ruined. Jim.

Probably because the ball joint and knuckle are a precision fit taper and if the nut is loose it is potentially wearing the taper oblonged or flared on one end or both.

This is what mine looked like after running it loose. I was able to chase the threads and triple nut it to get me home and I have since replaced it. The upper ball joint is replaceable the lower is part of the control arm assembly and can’t be replaced by its self.

I agree. The jeeps have gone to lock nuts on everything except the ball joints which are still using proper castle nuts.
This is what happens when Bean counters rule the world.
