Besides the 10 A the 2.7 is a terrific proven motor . Should out live a 2.3 4 cylinder . I tend to keep my vehicles 20 years .

I have the old Mazda based 2.3 in my 2002 Ranger that's still going strong 19 years later. Think it's all in how your going to treat and maintain something over the years that will determine its longevity under normal use.

Op trying to reassure himself? I haven’t given much thought to which might be more likely to last 20 years, nor have I seen any data to support either engine outliving the other. I like the 2.7 because it makes more power but the 2.3 because it allows me to row my own gears.

You are 100% right. If Ford constructed the 2.3 with the CGI block I would place my bet on the 2.3, but we all know that is not the case.

Here's my theory, I use it for marine outboard motors but can be applied to all.
"The best motor is the one that passes you when yours won't start."
Meaning: any motor can have an issue at anytime.

The EcoBoost basically IS the old Mazda 2.3.

I can't agree with the OP statement without data to back it up. It's just an opinion.

I’ve kept my 4x4s for a long time but as soon as I start having issues with the turbos, the Bronco is going. The engine itself won’t be the limiting factor here.

I'd be more worried about the frame and other metal components rotting out if you live in the salt belt USA before the motors die. Not so much an issue in California where your profile says you are, but you'll have other issues when CA decides no more gasoline engines.

20 years ago probably but now I’ll just trade it in for a new one. I’ll bring over a 6-pack and hand you wrenches while you do yours though. ?
