And the worst sounding at the same time!
Oh, c'mon now. Doesn't everyone want their vehicle to sound like an angry weed eater while they bounce down the trail breaking CV joints and bending control arms?

Just to put In perspective. The 2.3 Ecoboost will make the 6th gen, the most powerful bronco EVER! Let alone a 2.7
And yet the most derided engine Ford has ever made (which happened to go in a bronco) puts out double the torque of that thing @ 2000 RPM. So this is what "truck" engines have come too.............??

I'm not going to try to change your mind, but I will point out that the 2.3L turbo 4 cylinder that the Bronco is likely to get is a completely different beast than what was in your old Pinto.

It makes 270 peak horse power and 310 pound feet of torque as specced in the current Ranger. That should be plenty to scoot the new Bronco up and down the road.

For comparison, the 3.3L naturally aspirated V-6 that serves as the F-150's base engine is making 290 HP, but only 265 pound feet of torque. We're probably not going to see that in the Bronco, either.

Any of the EcoBoost V-6s, like the 2.7L, would be a clear upgrade over the 2.3L base engine, though.
A little red wagon is an upgrade over that pinto. .

Y'all can have the tiny engines. I will just get another F-150 if the only choice is a 2.3 in a Bronco. Driving them is not in my wheelhouse anymore.

Which is exactly why I drive a 5.0L F-150 instead of a "new" Ranger that has actually been on the international market since 2010. I solved the Coyote torque curve issue by buying an F-150 with 3.73 gears. Pulls like hell and doesn't sound like a fart under water while doing it.

If I had a choice I'd pick the PHEV or the Coyote for them sweet sweet 7000rpm+ pulls.

The dyno graph for my F-150 looks like that hellion one^^

Fun, but absolutely useless and comical on the street.

interesting comparison of different engines in F150 stock vs tuned. As far as the 2.3 goes, yes, itā€™s hard for people to grasp a 4cyl in their truck but that 2.3 has more hp and almost as much torque as any Previous V8 Bronco and with a tune itā€™s game over for any competitors in its class. Below is not the 2.3 but good comparison of the EBs vs V8

If the best engine available is a 2.3 cylinder ecoboost. Iā€™ll pass. The 2.3 ecoboost is a weak block and I would have serious concerns about the abuse it could handle on a 4x4 model that sees constant off road use.
Unless Ford comeS out with a new generation version that addresses the weak block design, Iā€™ll pass.

The Bronco 4x4 models need at least the 2.7 V6 ecoboost or better for reliability and torque..

Weak block? What are you talking about? Unless you are referring to the OLD 2.3 that had gasket issues on the focus RS. (Less than 2,000 cars effected with faulty gaskets and head bolts) But every other version has been great.

you can safely get 400hp out of those. Donā€™t really need much more do you?

and yes v6tt is coming too.

I need reliable torque not whp in a 4x4. Torque is what kills engines, not horsepower.

I own a mustang, on forums and pages both. The 2.3 ecoboost engine is a weak design. Iā€™ve seen multiple people post with pictures of holes in the side of the stock block. Some were fbo, tuned, some were just stock and tune.
Iā€™ve seen more people with the 2015-2019 (4 year period) blown 2.3 ecoboost block.
Iā€™ve never seen one fbo tuned NA 3.7 V6 mustang the entire span from 2011-2017 with a hole through the side of the engine. As a matter of fact even FI Iā€™ve seen one with a hole through the block and that was at 1100 whp. Most those FI 3.7 cars run stock block, everything and make 500 whp.

Now if a 2.3 ecoboost street car canā€™t handle that kind of abuse why would I put faith way out in the country that that engine is going to be bring me back to civilization In a Bronco 4x4 which is heavier?
