Long time lurker of the forum here. I initially started out with a Mach-e premium AWD which was an amazing car but gave me all sorts of headaches with the HVBJB recall and driving downhill issues. Of the 13months ownership, it was at the dealer for about 4months.

Moving on, I sold it after warranty repair in august 2022 and moved on to the bronco which I reserved from day 1. I took delivery on August 4 of this year, and I’ve been on a hiatus with work moving around and as of this morning, I put on 13.400 miles. It’s been wrapped with XPEL stealth PPF and then I drove cross country from New Hampshire to Arizona.

This morning, with a planned drive to the Grand Canyon, I got the wrench, service car soon, and the check engine light. The FordPass app shows a Powertrain malfunction and a turbo wastegate stuck. I’m calling dealerships at this hour with no availability for another week. Having read threads about engine failures in the 2.7L at around 5k miles I thought I may be well past that but I guess not.

Now on to looking for dealerships that can service it today on a Saturday but I know that’s wishful thinking.

I believe it’s a June 2022 build

That's tough.... try checking / challenge your connections, make sure all fuses are seated in the fuse box. Then disconnect the negative on your battery, wait 5 - 10 mins, reconnect.

Start truck to see if fault returns... Good luck!!! 🤞

Engine failure and wastegate issues are two very different things. Hopefully a dealership can get you in soon for service. Unfortunately that’s just how times are now. All dealerships seem to be very backlogged.

I’m on my way to a dealership. I’ll ask to do that for me! Thanks for the tip!

Correct! They are but I’m hoping this is not the start of it all! Hopefully this is all minor! Thanks!

Update? Just had the same warning and turbo wastegate alert driving home from work. 13,060 miles.

The dealer didn’t want to look at it right away and asked me to drop it off for it to be seen the next week.

I asked themto check the connections/fuses but their response was “that’s not how it works”

so I disconnected the battery, waited 5 minutes and reconnected it.I’ve had no errors andit drives just fine! And im at 17.5k now 🤦🏻‍♂️

Electronic wastegates. I am surprised we don't see more issues with them.

Dealer just replaced my passenger side turbocharger assembly after the same "Powertrain malfunction/Turbo wastegate" alerts.

2021 2.7 with 13,060 miles and a build date of 11 August 2021.

Total repair took 2-weeks due to lead time on the turbo.

This is scary to read. Replacing with the same exact part isn't really a fix.
