Just recently took mine for service for "valve ticking" that I had since delivery late Jan. Got the call that diagnostic was undetermined so Ford said easier to just replace entire engine. Just took a week to get new one shipped in and it's being changed out now. I may have dodged a bullet. My original Julian date was 342 (Dec. 8).

I am shocked! There have not been any failures here after 21281. How many miles on your 21342?

That must have been one hell of a ticking valve to have Ford replace an engine, especially a December build engine. Do they know something we do not know?

It was right under 4K. It was just a ticking that you could hear mostly when idling but would get faster when you revved it. Ran great besides that. The service guy originally thought it sounded like a bad valve header. Next thing I know is they that they’ve ordered a new engine. Said it couldn’t be determined without breaking it down so Ford said to replace it.

Yes, that is your engine - @SuperFord had posted it this morning - later confirmed it as orig engine label - being replaced

? can you give us the mileage number ?
? 3980 ? . . or something ?

Wasn’t sure if I should post since it didn’t actually “fail” but was replaced. Maybe an * or something?
I can guesstimate the mileage. It just rolled over to 4K when I took it back when the engine came in, so 4003.

You have a 342 engine build day. I surprised that they still had bad valves getting in the mix so late in the year. Please keep us posted on your engine replacement progress!
