Possibly a very stupid question, but I'm comfortable with that. I have to replace some ceiling drywall panels at home and came across drywall lifts/hoists and was wondering if something like that could be repurposed for removing the 2 door hardtop? For context I do not have a garage so the ceiling hoists won't work for me, I know there are freestanding hoists specifically for removing Wrangler and Bronco hardtops, but they are pricey.

Like I said this could be a very stupid question, but I don't have much experience with this, but this could possibly be a two birds one stone solution.

For reference I have included a link and picture to the item I stumbled across below:

Don't think that would work as the top drops down to meet the rear glass below the rear roll bar, so there's no space to go straight in and lift.

I own one of these, and I donā€™t think youā€™d get the bars under the roof enough especially with the spare tire in the way.

I appreciate the feedback, and figured there was a reason nobody had given it a shot. Back to the drawing board.

I used the forum search function including the words "ceiling" "roof" and "removal", this came back with a number of viable solutions others have used as well as conjecture and discussion about different strategies/products.

All well and good, but I'm trying to workshop my dumb idea not somebody else's.

Then go buy the drywall lift and try it out and report back with your findings.

Since your question post was less of a question as it's now limited to being a statement.

Ya could sill use it to lift from the top (with some straps) but donā€™t know how ya would position it and lift without it tipping over...
