Disclaimer, I'm fairly inexperienced with axle swaps. But, as I understand it, the welded casing means that you may need a whole new axle to add a locker. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.
The ring gears are not welded to carriers, and there is no welded casing that's going to prevent you from swapping in the locker of your choice the day you drive it home. Full carrier selectables in both air and electric, full carrier automatics from Detroit, and lunchbox lockers (that replace spider gears in the stock carrier) will all be available at launch.Auto lockers take the place of the spider gears and you keep the stock carrier (that the ring gear is welded to). The downside is they only turn off when off the throttle.

Me and my son were bouncing off the wall excited! We are getting a 4 door non Sasquatch black diamond in cactus grey with mic top so it was cool to see something close and a bronco in person! Decided for sure before we put one mile in it I am swapping out the rubber for the bfg’s that were on the badlands they were perfect! Not too much not too little.
