Very nice! Did you make that? Any instructions on how you did it?
I used foam boards and hot glue to mock up the tank A fabricator build the baffled tank for me. My friend welded the support cradle as he is a better welder then me.
The design was copied from my previous offroad vehicles.
what does it say for your distance to empty now? 650-700 miles? lol
It’s really strang, I run the main tank down to 1/2 and turn on the transfer pump and expect the fuel gage to increase Nope after 10 minutes this gage is still at 1/2. WTF!
Another few minutes later it’s at full. I think the computer is having a hissy fit figuring out how the tank fills while in motion.

... it does bring up the very real point that this is not at all crash-tested and sits low enough that it could be vulnerable.
I'd also love some more range and fewer fuel stops, it's particularly bad in the Braptor. First world problem...

Anyway, this has some really significant drawbacks.

1. Does sit way too low and sacrifices way too much ground clearance.
2. Not only is it not crash tested, it won't ever be.
3. It's reasonably likely to cause some significant safety issues in a crash scenario. I hope not Ford Pinto-esque, but not a risk I'd be willing to take.

Yep! Would love to see someone do a water storage tank under the cargo area that could be charged with an air compressor. Would solve many problems for me.
Design of a better than OEM water storage solution is in progress for the Raptor. Should only be a different tank for the non-Raptor (and of course will require a muffler relocate on the non-Raptor).

I get that there’s probably some humor in this statement, but it does bring up the very real point that this is not at all crash-tested and sits low enough that it could be vulnerable.
What aftermarket mods are crash tested? None really. It’s a mod. Been going on since car 1.

Almost none involve fuel. I'm not really concerned about crash testing for my paint protection film, window tinting, glove box divider, mud flaps, hand grabs, device rail, wheels, or basically anything else I've put on. But a fuel tank sitting low? My guess is not only would no OEM do this, probably no after-market company would, either. There might even be a DOT or NHTSA regulation that disallows this. But everyone is free to determine what is acceptable to them. As long as one doesn't get rear-ended, it's probably not an issue.

None of that matters in my use case, anyway, because I got my Bronco for off-roaring, not long road trips, and this significantly affects ground clearance. I'm even less interested in seeing how this would perform in Moab than in a rear-end collision. 😆

I was referring to real mods like suspension, electrical and engine mods. None of that is crash tested like the Bronco has. All could cause a potentially serious problem or injury.

My apologies. Who/What company are you referring to so I can keep my eye out?

Rear fuel tanks are available for various vehicles including Jeep JK/JL models.

Many of the vehicles I've owned have rear fuel tanks, including my CJs and TJ, my '65 Mustang and others.

Millions of vehicles have had rear fuel tanks, it would be very low on my list of risk concerns.

Not while in motion, but I'll leave the car in AUX power mode while filling up and I'll see the gas gauge go up in real time, same for the miles left indicator.

That said, I'd trade that all in for a bigger tank on my 2 door!

I'm developing. I'm a recovering Mechanical Engineer. No company per se. I'll announce here. It's going to be very stealthy, robust and integrated using only the highest quality materials and components.
