Curious what uses would you want your switch on when the truck isn't on?

Question: If you had a cooler / fridge in the back, wouldn't you just hook it up to the DC outlet in the trunk instead of the hard wire? In either case, I assume neither the DC outlet nor the aux switch works with the keys not in the ignition. These days most coolers / fridges have power buttons on them, so I can't see a scenario why you would want to control it via the Aux switch instead of at the actual unit.

(I'm new to all of this stuff, so am legitimately asking here. Please be kind if im missing something totally obvious.)

Only two pass through wires, and all switches require key on? That is highly disappointing and not what I would expect since they get it right in the F series.
