Common practice to "cover your ass" against those nitpicking customers that don't understand the concept. Without a doubt you can spray one, just not sure how well it will hold up.

We sprayed this chrome Toyota grille because the customer had it painted and it peeled off. When the customer asked if we could Line-X it we said "Yes, but won't warranty if it peels."

Has not had a problem.

One thing I will add,

You can buy from the dealer a new pick up that is already line-xed ( " on the assembly line" kinda thing) but ........ It is NOT prepped the same. When it is done by us the entire surface has to be prepped. When done at the factory is is only prepped on the edges. Therefore it is NOT covered by any kind of warranty. Damage it and you will pay to have a new one sprayed in.

Line-x does NOT adhere to a surface that is not properly prepped.

This is the tailgate piece. Took my guys less that 10 minutes to "peel" the factory installed Line-X.

Note: when I say factory I am talking car manufacturer factory not Line-X factory.
