I don’t hate the location of the front plate on the stock bumper vs the steel upgrade one. Is this the factory placement for the plastic bumper?

Don't get me wrong, I do HATE the factory mounting location for the steel bumper.
Because I reside in the People's Republic of Connecticut we are forced to run front plates.

I have a question for you wheel gurus out there. The wheels I'm considering are 17x9 with a 20 offset running the same size tires as Peter (OP). My question is simple as I am completely wheel size illiterate. Will this work, and what will a 20 offset look like?

The 285s he referenced are at about 11.2" Wide.

I meant wheel width not tire. I like the setup.

The oem works fine. You do not have to change them

I too do not like the OBX factory wheels. I liked the rest of the OBX trim enough to order it anyway. My first thought on the wheels is to take some black electrical tape and cover up the shiny bits to see how the stock wheels look all black. If I like it, I might just paint the shiny bits black.

Installed the black RTR wheels +30 offset.

285/70/17 tire size

No bubbing and honestly a better ride than the 18s

77.2 lbs wheels + tires weight


.5 mpg worst if that. No road noise.


I did go on a dirt road and and had a 1 foot incline on the driver side and no rub. Still a lot of room under load. But I am still waiting for my leveling kit I ordered and hopefully a 2 inch lift after that.

I received it but they have to send me a new ser see pics. I have driven the Bronco 1200 miles on these tires no issues at all. Offroading in New Hampshire and back on the highway 3 hrs to Connecticut. Rides great.

Thank you for posting your pics, I used your Bronco as inspiration. Just picked up my OB a week ago. Got a set of KMC wheels with Falken tires, somehow I find it drives better than stock
