I am so hyped about the Ford Bronco. I am looking at the Badlands Trim. However, I am also looking at the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon as well.

My question to you is, which will provide better capability and overall fun? Thanks!

This is very simple.

You buy a Bronco and a GT350 or C8 Corvette.

Two vehicles for the price of one and you will be very happy.

With the Bronco you won't stroke out the first time you scratch it off-roading.
The cheap Ford paint will scratch more easily. If you're that sensitive about body damage you shouldn't take any vehicle off road.

Is the Bronco a worthy competitor to the G-Wagon?

I'm not sensitive about it at all. I daily a King Ranch F150 that has brush pin stripes all up and down the sides of it. I'm just saying it's more palatable to scratch up a $40k vehicle than a 150k vehicle.

You could ruin two broncos and still have enough left over for a third for the cost of one G wagon. Although at that point you should maybe consider a different hobby ?

For you. If you're shopping a G to take on the trails you've already accepted it will get dings and scratches

I'm shopping these 2 now. I have a previous gen G Wagon with solid front axle. I'm thinking about getting a new car; I bought my G used.
On paper, the Bronco has superior specs for off roading, even compared to a modified G. Will Ford be able to tune the traction control as well as Mercedes? Will the Bronco be as comfortable on day-long highway drives or full days on the trails? Will the Bronco be as fun to drive? These are the $60k questions. Lack of cooled seats puts the Bronco at a major disadvantage. :(
The 2010 G I have is amazing on the trails and also on long 10+ hour highway drives. No other car or suv I've owned comes even close. The comfort, visibility, and solidity of the G makes it the least fatiguing vehicle I've ever been in. Even my Cayenne Turbo couldn't match it on the highway. Sure, if we could cruise over 100mph on the highway the Porsche would be better, but since we're limited to about 85mph, the G wins easily.

I am now leaning towards the Bronco. Its a lower price and just as capable as the G-Wagon.
