Not a good sign, I'm would guess there are some shared suppliers with the Bronco and F-150.

2021 Ford F-150 Owners Are Already Facing Rust, Corrosion Issues

Rust is a sad reality for most vehicle owners, especially those that live in areas with harsh winters or near the salty ocean. But we expect our vehicles to last quite some time before rust starts to rear its ugly head. That hasn’t been the case for a few 2021 Ford F-150 owners, however, as many of them are already facing various rust and corrosion issues mere months after taking delivery of their shiny new trucks.

With those cast housings you really have to be cautious of rust. From the picture provided above (and in the jump) that pumpkin might have, at best, 150 more usable years left in it if left unchecked.

The hardware and components (images provided in the jump, not in this thread) are a bit of a concern, those will be south of cheese within a few decades.

In order to be more helpful than snarky, i'll include some core reading for those who haven't worked with cast materials before and why this little surface rust really isn't a problem on the pumpkin or axle carriers as pictured.

There can be issues with the hardware pictured in the link of the OP, that level of rusting does seem odd, however, I don't know what material was used for the hardware or where the rust started. There does seem to be residual that has bled elsewhere due to water.

As we don't know the makeup of the cast material, there could have been a planned protective rust layering, this patina can be beneficial if planned for.

Is there a reason not to paint it at the factory? Even if needless, it would be a much better look.

Okay, now that you have all had your fun, for those of us that don't bleed Ford blue, that have not been through a new Ford release, this, perhaps, seemed like news.

A vehicle is a tool, select to right one for the job, stage of life, desire or need at the time. To limit yourself to only the Ford brand, to think that brand loyalty is worth more than a cup of coffee, not so much. For anyone that wants to chime in, I have owned 18 Fords and I..., please save it.
