With the Bronco not showing up until April of 2021, wouldn’t that make it a candidate for a 2022 model year designation? If not, 2021 sales will be very small.

Excellent question. I remember MY2007 Mustangs began production on June 5th because it was the first year for the GT500 and they wanted to get them out for the summer and to increase visibility on the street. I say why not make them 2022s? (Mine rolled down the line on day 2, 06/06/06 , aka "El Diablo" ?

Manufacturing starts in December. So those units threw ones built in ~June/July will be a 2021 model (2021.5)
yes 2021 will be a smaller amount. Likely less than 100,000
Which I think will make 2021 Broncos even more special. Not only less of them compared to subsequent model years but also cuz first 6th gen model year of course ?
I’ve always thought that stub year models have a special quirky status to them.

Typically manufacturing date cut off is June/July for most cars. That’s when retoolling happens most of the time.
could be as early as April or as late as September. Just depends. And makes 0 sense to me.

Original 65 Mustang came out in April of 64. Production lasted 18 months (March 64 - August 65).
Seems like if production was to start in December, they would show up much earlier than April. Maybe it’s just preproduction in December. I guess we’ll see... in 6 months. ?

That’s why many people refer to the Mustangs made from April (Hit dealers in august) till the end of the 64 are referred to as 1964.5
Not all models are on the same schedule. Explorer is September, F-150 is October. What's to say if Bronco starts in December, 21 production won't run until December of 21?

That’s just the start of production. But once a model is started the annual changeover typically takes place over the summer. For instants the 21 escape and explorer Will start over the summer.
no matter when the product starts. So even if the bronco starts in December it will end sometime over the summer. When the 2022 model starts.

I think that was mostly people trying to make their 65 seem more special than it actually was. ? There are always running changes on a new model. I’m sure the Bronco will have some as well.

Well the F-150 is changing generations. And is a special case because it’s a full sized truck. Very different than crossovers and sedans and suvs.
but who knows. Every car and brand is different there are already 2021 models for Chevy and Kia available. yet some other Chevy and kias arnt expected to change over till fall.
