M2DZ-19980-D (from a 2021) is impossible to get right now and on a massive backorder
N2DZ-19980-N (from a 2023) is much easier to get and will probably only take a few days

I can confirm that the 2023 part number N2DZ-19980-N will swap right over and work perfectly after being programmed. (These part numbers are for Heated Rear Window, Heated Steering Wheel and Heated Seats)
Forscan is all that’s needed for programming right?

I would assume forscan can program it no problem, however I don't know 100%. I work at a dealership, so I have access to FDRS for all my programming.

Ah gotcha thanks! I assume my dealer would prob charge 1-2 hours labor for this then. Wish your dealer was close to me then I could be sure they knew how to do it 😂

While your mileage may vary... Forscan worked perfectly for me.

You could always try it with forscan and if for some reason it doesn't work, you can always purchase a 2 day license for FDRS. I think it's only $50

If it works like my F-150 then yes, you simply install the module and then hit Load AB for that module. You will need internet access to accomplish this as Forscan gets you load as built data from Ford b

Why do you suppose Ford doesn’t just use the new part to supersede the old? Is this normal if they are identical units?

They may be in the process of doing that, but honestly I’m not sure.
It certainly is not normal if they are in fact identical. From what I can see, there is definitely no difference at all between the 2 though 🤷‍♂️

My guess is that they sourced different chips for the 23s. Some that are easier to get than what they had in 21 and had to drop in 22.

Yeah that would make sense. I’d say that’s a pretty good guess.

Yeah, I guess as long as it works, I'm going to pull the trigger.

Have you changed yours out, I just noticed we have the same build color and all, except mine is a 4 door?

Oh yeah, that’s a funny coincidence. Yes, I switched mine out last week. Everything works perfectly and went very smooth.

Perfect, looks great, I just ordered from Fairway Ford as they allow me to use Ford pass Points!
