My 2022 Eruption Green, Outer Banks, 2.7L, Auto, Sasquatch, Lux, Tow, Leather/Roast Bronco was delivered this week. FINALLY!!!

I have been around Broncos all my life, my father had many, and I have restored about 15 or so Early Broncos and actually have 4 in my shop currently. I have always loved to tinker and modify them and can't seem to keep them stock.

In the thread title is "Special Decor". For those not familiar, Special Decor was a certain trim package found only on the 1976 and 1977 Early Bronco. Really nothing so "Special" about it other than a distinctive Stripe Kit which goes across the Hood and down each side with a Blacked Out Center Grill and optional Body Color Top. It has always been my favorite Early Bronco and I will do the same with the 22 Outer Banks.

Here's the Plan (Due To Change):

Suspension: (Updated)
Icon Stage 8 Suspension System
Icon CDEV (Electronic Valve) Coil-Overs
Icon IIC Computer - Controls Shock Dampening Settings via Smart Phone
Icon Upper Control Arms
Icon Rear Upper and Lower Links
Icon Adjustable Track Bar
Tires - 37x12.50x18 Toyo ATIIIs
Wheels - Icon Compression - 18x9 - +25 Offset
3/4" Bora Spacers - +6 Offset With Spacers Installed

Ford Performance, Heavy Duty HOSS 3.0 Steering Rack and Tie Rods

Exterior:
RiderGraphix - Special Decor Stripe Kit, Mid Body Line - Satin Black
Bronco Script Satin Black Fender Emblems - Same Script as Early Gen1 Broncos
Removed Bucking Horse On Tailgate - Replaced with Outer Banks Emblem
Baja Designs Pocket Fog Lights
Baja Designs Driving Lights - LP6 with Rudy's Bracket
Ceramic Treatment on Body
PPF on the Grill, Hood, Mirrors, Upper Door Pillars and Fender Flares
SRQ Rear Shock Skids
RTR Front Grill
RTR Rear Tire Carrier
Ford 2.0 MIC Top
Sasquatch Fender Flares - Painted Eruption Green
JCR Full Roof Rack

Engine compartment:
Hood Struts
ARB Dual Compressor with Mount and Air Pressure Control Kit
Remote Compressor Air Line Connect

Interior:
Dealer installed Ceramic window tint on Front Windows - Matches Rear Windows
Ceramic Tint on Windshield - Almost clear but has Great Heat Reduction
Archetyperacing Picatinny Rail for Mounting Phone and other items on Dash
Protect Screen Saver for 12" Screen and Gauges
IAG Soft Top Assist
Upgraded Speakers For B&O Sound System
- Focal 4" - Front Dash and Roll Bar, 6 3/4" Kick Panels
JCR Molle Racks
JCR Tailgate Table
JCR Front Door Pockets

Goose Gear Rear Plate System
Goose Gear Rear Drawer Module System - 28" Depth Drawers

This is how the 2022 Outer Banks Started with only the stripe kit added

Gotta ask…did you order you license plate as OBX as a custom or was that just luck?

Looks awesome. Are those manual locking hubs up front? Also, did you use hub rings with the wheels? I'm looking at Icons as well, and wasn't sure if I'd need them.

Manual Locking hubs..... Maybe?

The 18x9 Icon wheels installed have a Hub of 95, the Bronco itself has a 93 Hub. This is too small of a difference to add a Hub Centric. Most of the Method wheels and some of the Icon wheels have a 106 Hub. Then yes, use the correct hub centric for those. 93-106

That is a Center Cap from a Warn wheel. Fits perfectly. Glad you caught this.

Now that Heritage grilles are starting to show up are you planning on finishing up the "decor" package with one of those?

Yes! I do have a Heritage Grill for my 2-Door that will have the Black Center and Body Color surround as a 76-77 Bronco did.

Going complete retro with a 4-Door doesn't really work for me. Just the Stripe kit and Bronco Script Emblems for this one.

Wow! That would be some luck!

I ordered the OBX license plate. One of my favorite places to go since I was a kid. R12 is the main road all the way from Corolla to Hatteras Village.

Here's an idea based on what's been done but with a change. See below, between the body colored surround and the white they used a pinstripe to complement/separate it so instead of using a color you could use a chrome pinstripe to mimic the bright trim on the original decor package. So in your case it would be the CG body surround, chrome pinstripe and then black center with red letters.

Just an idea but definitely post up once you get it done!

I do have the Chrome Pin stripe ready to install as well. The Heritage Grill and other body parts of my 2-Door are at the paint shop now.

I got the Icon XD Forged Tie Rods installed last week. These tie rods are a lot beefier than stock and more stout than the HOSS 3.0 HD Tie Rods as well.

I painted the Outer Ends before install.

Install was straight forward and Toe alignment was done as well.

I have an Icon Suspension and there are no issues what so ever.

Looks great. Did you install the steering rack bushing mod kit as well at the same time?

No I did not. I will install the HOSS 3.0 HD Rack at some point.

All cleaned up and ready to go to Virginia next week. I will also go to the Outer Banks and hopefully up to Maine over this coming summer.

I took a road trip up to Athens Georgia to visit family for a couple days and then up to Virginia where this Bronco will spend it's summer and fall.

The Bronco performed flawlessly. Not a single issue or complaint from me. I do not have any rattles or weird noises that others have found. The 2.0 MIC Top is still a convertible top. It does make some wind noise, but not very loud at all and conversation can easily be had at highway speed.

The Icon Stage 8 suspension is, well, the best I could have ever imagined. The settings on Normal Driving made is set to 2. (2 out of 10) This is a nice, soft ride. I maxed out the G-Force Boost (front and back sway) setting. The Bronco has minimal nose dive under hard braking and minimal squat when you accelerate. I also maxed out the Corner Boost setting as well. A lifted Bronco on 37s is not supposed to go around corners as flat as it does. It's truly amazing! Complete night and day compared to the original Sasquatch Suspension. Really! It does not compare at all. There are also settings for Off Road and Towing as well. I will install this suspension on any other Broncos I have.

The V6 has plenty of power and I was never really asking for more. I also got just over 17mpg with the Cruise Control set to 76 mph for the most part of the trip.

I truly love this Bronco and feel that Ford absolutely Nailed It!
