Several weeks ago I posted a WTB ad for a modular bumper. I was a little sad because it seemed that EVERYONE is trying to get a modular bumper.
After several hits, (one of which was a PM from a scammer that has since been banned) I had a forum member give me a lukewarm offer — possibility — of a takeoff modular bumper from a Bronco Raptor. It was contingent on whether or not he liked the new aftermarket winch bumper he had just acquired. A couple weeks went by and he almost hesitantly decided to sell me his OEM bumper. I made the 6-hr round trip drive and picked it up this past weekend in my F150. For those that are considering this swap, I was very surprised just how heavy this dang bumper is. I’m really glad I took my truck and several packing blankets to get it. It was surprisingly heavy to me…….much heavier than I expected.
The install was super-straightforward and VERY easy considering my Badlands had dummy sensors and foglights. There was no wiring, so it was just a matter of 6 bolts, removal of the plastic bolt covers, and then not damaging the new bumper during installation.
I am SUPER-STOKED about the finished product. Now all I need is lights and dummy sensor covers. (If anyone has a suggestion on those, please feel free)
